    My new favorite game

Every so often you stumble upon a great game. This is one of those games. Pros: The strategy is challenging, but easy to pick up. The early levels are fairly simple and gives you a good chance to pick it up, but the difficulty escalates quickly enough. There is a basic backstory which doesn't really flesh out much or go into anything, but gives it a sense moving along toward a goal at least which is nice. Cons: I was there was a way to speed up the gameplay a bit. Zooming in and out is nice but then you feel like you're missing out on what's going on outside. On the bigger maps that can be a problem because you need to zoom in to micromanage but then you can't tell what's going on elsewhere. Also if you're not at just the right depth the lettering can be hard to read. There needs to be more development on the different types of ships. They tell you what each one does when it first is introduced but they don't really let you flesh out the different combinations. I'd almost rather just have one type and use basic numbers to win. Alternatively, allow to grow with the different types a bit more and figure out what kind of combinations work best, rather than just guessing randomly. The progress for conquering a planet or station is really hard to follow. Put a percentage bar or even just a progress bar above it so we can tell how it's going. It'd be nice if we could replay old levels just for practice and the like while in campaign. I'd like to see how I did the last time and try to beat that. It might seem like I had a lot more cons than pros but the overall game easily trumps my minor gripes, enough that I still give this game 5 stars. I recommend you try out the free version first and if it suits you, go for the paid one.
