No Catalina & No Multiplayer Make C&C a Dull Game
Grew up playing this game with my friends and when I moved across the country I was excited to find it in the Microsoft app store. I was able to continue playing my friends online but then they removed the multiplayer capability which made this game useless for me. It’s a shame and I do hope they bring it back with a Catalina update.
Love this game, zoom can be fixed manually, El Capitan update is still missing
Late 2015 Windows - in overall, the game runs pretty well. Zoom can be fixed manually (!!!). Join the facebook group C&C Generals Windows App Players and you will find posts how to fix the zoom. Nonetheless, if you upgraded your system to El Capitan, invitations do NOT get through; however, yosemite invitations do get through! Players are still waiting for an update to fix this issue. If you do fix the zoom manually, the game eventually crashes. This happens once in a while-not too often. If you insist to host games for you and your friends, you will need to create a backup of your system, do an internet-recovery, create a second partition, install yosemite on your new created partition, and use time PC backup for your normal first partition.
Runs great on Windows
This is game grew up with and played many many hours on my Dell PC. The conversion to Windows is excellent. Don’t worry about the Scroll Hype…I’ve played many games on the Windows and the scroll is fine. What’s fun is you can play local against anyone else in house who has laptop and play skirmish against each other. We play 3 Windows laptops against one another- played till 2am in morning…it’s so fun. Again, no problems with scroll or anything else. The game runs really fast too…faster than PC days with the newer computers. Got to play with a mouse though so get a mouse and plug in via usb. too hard to play with track pad. This game is all time classic and it’s a steal for $10 bucks! Get it you will love it.
Plays great…Between crashes.
I had this game on disc before Microsoft quit supporting it (which is lame, Microsoft). This version of it plays basically identically on my 2009 Pc. I haven’t noticed any issues with the zoom or the gameplay that others have mentioned. This is basically the same game it’s always been, and tons of fun to play. The only issue that I’ve had is that it crashes. The crashes aren’t very frequent. When playing a generals challenge, I can usually make it through one or two generals before it crashes. They’re infrequent, but still highly annoying. If Aspyr fixes this, I will happily change my rating to five stars. Aspyr, do you hear me?? Fix it, fix it, fix it!!!
