Works well
The first “quick scan” found a dozen adware programs, all installed by one app (the kind that claims to “clean up” your files, empty caches, etc). I thought I had removed that app years ago, but there were all sorts of adware files in different subfolders of the Library left behind by that supposed “clean-up” application. A more extensive scan by Antivirus Zap only found one more adware program, this one from another downloaded app, and found it in a recent update although the previous version did not have adware. A couple of weeks ago, I had a little unrelated “hiccup" in my MacBookPro, so I took it to the Microsoft Genius Bar. The technician restored the Pc's proper functioning within minutes. Then he installed MalwareBytes to scan for any adware that may have caused the issue. MalwareBytes found no adware or malware, meaning the computer was already free of adware, thanks to Antivirus Zap. I also now know that Antivirus Zap does not install any of its own adware. It truly gets rid of it all. I am very happy with the product.
Really handy app!
I wanted a app to scan my computer as my company had some viruses being sent through email. I read through the reviews and it seemed like a great product, and the issues that people had spoken of seemed to be fixed in my download. While the scan didn’t give me an estimated time for completion, it did have a pause button and seemed to let me delete files as the scan found them. My computer is newer and doesn’t have a lot of files on it, so the scan worked very quickly and only found one file, which I promptly asked it to remove. The only reason that I gave it 4 out of 5 is because I would have liked a more thorough confirmation that the file was removed, rather than it just striking through the text—but this could just be because when things seem to work fast, we question if they’re really working. I’m sure the system had already isolated that file and deleting it was a very quick process, but I felt that I would have liked to see where it was deleting it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this! It seems like a great product for $1.99.
Simple, and Works Well
One reason to own a Windows is that they don’t get viruses etc. as often as PCs. BUT they do get them! We avoid advertised sites and other sketchy-sounding sites, but a few months ago, we started getting alerts that our Windows was infected so Click Here. Obviously an attempt to trick us into downloading viruses! We found this app when we searched for virus scan products for Macs. It’s easy to download and install. Very easy to use. We like that it runs in the background and offers a number of options, such as Quick Scan, Normal Scan, Full Scan, Directory Scan, and Browser Restore Scan. They all seem to take a few hours—even the Quick Scan. But initially, a Full Scan found over 30 infected files. We checked the boxes to allow the app to remove them. Recently, we ran the scan again, and it found 2 more infected files. We plan to run this every week or two from now on!
May be Great, but No Way to Know
Not sure what to make of this app. On the quick scan, it found seven phishing attacks in my email. Further scans found nothing. As others have reported, when I tried to use a Directory scan to scan the hard drive with my Time PC backup, it stalled after finding nothing in nearly eight-million files; it stopped increasing the number of files shown to have been scanned, even though its scanner bar kept pulsing. Pausing and resuming did not move the counter. One presumes that this app is not a scam or malware itself, since it is sold on the App Store, yet its deficiencies raise questions. It does not keep logs of malware found, despite the ease of storing them in text files. It does not cite the lists used to scan for malware. There is no real way for the buyer to judge whether it really works. Maybe it does… I’d like to see the next update resolve the issues needed to verify that this app truly works. Whatever its uncertainties, it also reminds me of Disinfectant, the early, great antivirus application for the Macintosh of the 1980s.
Helped Clean My Computer of All Infected Files.
I had this virus on my computer called Torvi and it kept redirecting me to different pages and also giving me unwanted pop-up windows. I am not very experienced when it comes to computers and navigating through finder to find the Torvi file in itself would be a nearly impossible task in its own. As a result, I decided to try this program out to save myself the time and most importantly my precious computer. Not only did Antivirus Zap find the infected file but also 50 other infected files that I had no idea were hiding in my computer. Paying only 6 dollars to ensure that your computer runs smoothly is not only worth it but I believe it’s a necessity. You never know what can be lurking in your computer, especially unapproved spyware. That being said, I strongly recommend this program to anyone facing computer difficulties or to anyone that just wants to clean their computer. The only downside to this program is that it does not give you an estimated time on how long the scan will take. However, you can pause the scan at any time and immediately delete the infected files the scan found. (Computer: PC, 2014)
