Exactly what I needed
MIDIPlayer X is a great app for just playing MIDI files, which is exactly what I needed; I have other music apps that can play MIDI files, however, they also do lots of other things, so it is an overkill when I just want to enjoy my MIDI files. Also, MIDIPlayer X uses OS X/PC's built-in synth, which is based on (or at least sounds just like) Roland's Sound Canvas; this is what I used when sequencing my MIDI songs, so MIDIPlayer X allows my MIDI songs to sound just like they do on my external Roland synth, something that GarageBand does not do so well. Great functionality at a great price!
Very fast support
Had a problem with my reading expertise. I mean, when I see push on a door, I’m supposed to pull, right? However, when I emailed them that my music wouldn’t cycle to the next song, they answered right away (even on New Years Day, I might add) to keep clicking autoplay until it turns blue. They weren’t smart alecks and didn’t tell me to go back and read the instructions, dummy. For two bucks this is a great program.
Great for previewing MIDI files
Just drag-and-drop a file and start listening to it. Do the same with a whole folder and go from one file to the other with the click of a button.
It just works
Easy to use and it works great!
Huge time-saver
I have a 32-year-old Roland U-20 keyboard, and after I had the internal battery changed, the keyboard lost all of its default patch data (the display showed nonsense characters, and wouldn't play any internal instruments). The Roland company sent me a .MID file and instructions on how to set the U-20 to receive the default patches. I simply added a Roland U-20 device to MIDI Studio on the Windows, and connected the MIDI In and Out ports to an internal Windows MIDI device. MIDIPlayer X was extremely simple to use: I turned off Auto-Play and sent the data to the U-20. Problem solved, without spending weeks trying to figure out one of those complicated software sequencers.
