1Password Overview

What is 1Password? 1Password is a password manager app that allows users to create and store strong, unique passwords for all their accounts. It also offers the ability to fill usernames and passwords, credit cards, and addresses on websites and online forms in seconds. The app is designed with security in mind, with all information stored in an encrypted format that only the user can decrypt. 1Password also offers a browser-first experience, allowing users to use the app in Safari without installing the desktop app. The app is built for families and teams, with support for multiple accounts and shared vaults. Additionally, the app offers automatic security alerts with Watchtower, which monitors user accounts for vulnerabilities. Users can try 1Password for free for 14 days before choosing a plan that suits their needs.

    Every iteration gets worse

I've been a 1Password user for at least 10 years, and it amazes me how this company insists on taking what was once a great, non-obtrusive but helpful app and just keep making it worse and worse. Why does it ask if you want to save a password right after it fills a password? Why is it always needlessly throwing popups over boxes you need to type in? Why is it when I open the main app I can never get to the data I need to access any more? Why is it trying to auto-complete into itself? Confusing, infuriating, always in your face, and now with a subscription fee. The only reason I'm still on the app is that I have 10 years of saved content, and moving will be an enormous nighmare. I truly dislike this app, and as someone who used to be a huge proponent of it I wish I could just migrate easily to iCloud Keychain and never use this app again.

    Don’t believe the haters

I am a big believer in native apps, and was, like many people, disappointed to hear that 1Password was transitioning to Electron. Once it came out, my fears were allayed: it’s fast (faster than the old version), much improved ease of use and workflow, and still feels nice. I have more complaints bout the new *oconography* than about anything else. It’s the same great app I’ve been using for years, and still the best password manager out there, full stop.

works great for me, longtime 1Pass user ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To me the Safari integration seems faster, all my shortcuts still work ⌘ \ to pull up 1pass (hint you don't need it because just clicking on an input field pulls up the UI). Touch ID and Microsoft Watch unlock work great as well. Not sure what folks are doing wrong here but, 1st grab the 1Password 8 desktop app THEN install the browser extensions. If that doesn't work maybe it is time to rebuild your Windows because mine is working flawlessly on my M1 PC. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Update to 1Password 8 Seesm Excellent

When macUpdater kept telling me there was a 1Password 8 available, I was a little confused. My previous 1Password 7 was from the App Store and MacUpdater was set to only look at things I acquired from outside the App Store. I see comments about the Safari Extension not working, but I did the normal approval and restart of Safari and things seem fine. Not sure what issue others might be having that prevent them from moving on.

    Very Confusing

Why does the Windows App Store have two versions of 1Password ("1Password" and "1Password for Safari")? I've used 1Password for years and have found it very useful and recommended it to friends. If I also install on my Windows "1Password for Safari" along with "1Password," and I end up with two 1Password icons in my safari menu bar. Why? What is the difference? I've searched for documentation that explains the two versions for 1P, but can't find any. This lack of documentation of how to use (one or two) versioins of 1P on Windows Safari seems like a huge dropped ball on the part of AgileBits. Please let us know what is going on!!!
