Totally Works
Its hard to find easy ways to go paperless - or just keep track of receipts and bills. Sure you can pay for quickbooks or another program - but they all cost money that I don't have. I ust want a way to make presets - like "Scan a doc of this size, 1 sided, save to X Folder". Then I can organize the files myself and save them to an external hard drive for safe keeping. I don't want my bills and receipts in the cloud either. So this is a great driver/utility app for scanning with different presets. Sure - it crashes sometimes - what app doesn't. But I can say it is much faster and better than BR-Receipts (which came wth my Brother scanner ADS-1000W). Bottom line I like this and can use it to do what I wanted to do.
It works...but...
While scanning with this app is not difficult, it does not provide any more functionality than the built-in scanning app (accessible from the Printer/Scanner Preferences). In fact it is missing what I consider to be a critical piece of functionality...the ability to specify the name of the file generated by a scan. All you can do is specify the name of the folder and you delve into the advanced settings you can specify the base file name for a named configuration. That is rediculous - use the settings to set a DEFAULT name by all means, but let me choose the filename for each scanned document! On top of that, as "Noproblema" pointed out, there is no preview. Both these features are available in the built-in scanning app!
Exceeds expectations
Only reason I am giving it a 4 is because I haven’t found a way to add to a document. Windows version lets you do continuous or non continuous scanning. So, if you need to add something you can. This version doesn’t. However, this does let you scan both sides of a document at one time!! This is not a feature of the windows version, and has saved me a rediculous amount of time since I don’t have to flip pages over now and scan again (hence previous need to add to scanned document before converted to PDF). LOVE THIS AP
Nice clean modern interface and works seemlessly at least for me.
In the past I have installed the whole driver set and included software / utilities. Whilst they work the interface feels dated. This app works a treat. As an example, the the traditional app you have to tell the scanning tool to choose between the feeder or the flatbed; this automatically detects the multidocument feeder and if there are documents in the tray scans from there, if not it trys to acquire the scan from the flatbed. In summary, I like it :-)
