1. The Device Updater provides Tandem Diabetes Care™ insulin pump users the ability to update their device software remotely using a computer with internet access.

2. The Tandem Device Updater is intended for use by individuals with diabetes mellitus who use Tandem Diabetes Care™ insulin pumps, their caregivers, and their healthcare providers in home and clinical settings.

Pros:

  • - Updated this morning, no problems and very fast
  • - Helpful to do at end of cartridge and had a new refilled cartridge ready to go at time of update
  • - Instructions and update numbers available saved in my notes app (Mac computer)
  • - Able to do a bolus before reconnecting my pump to my infusion site (wasting the unit) so the pump would have my IOB correct when reconnectiong the session
  • - Running the Dexcom CGM app on my phone simultaneous with the Tandem and the CGM data showed up on the pump within a few minutes
  • - Bolus feature was displayed on the phone
  • - Former LOOP user looking forward to future updates for extended bolus on this Tandem pump phone app
  • - Update process was very easy
  • - Training was thorough and well done

    Worst update process ever. 3 weeks: buggy, annoying, opaque

    I really have to express something I'm unhappy to say, because I love the Tandem pump that has been my constant companion for more than a year. But this update process has been unacceptable. I don't think you have achieved safety by doing forecful, repetitive, redundant training which obfuscates the eight facts you MUST know amongst regulatory garble and repetition of obvious information. It is also a slow and annoying process; I've had no CGM sensor on my pump for more than a month. Finally, the website is unreliable and the same login information (saved by my browser) will sometimes work to log in and sometimes not. Click four suddenly lets you log in. Tandem, I love you, but developers, please have a patient run through the entire process with you in front of them. Then, you'll see how users fare and the grief, frustration and dead-end moments they experience. This is just not acceptable. You also fail to caption your videos - it's also non-inclusive. Anyone who is deaf, uses a screen reader, or has any reasonable human need to have more than audio it interact with is up the creek.

    Big Kudos to both T.Slim and Dexcom! From the new innovative technology, the simplicity of the update instructions, and the excellent assistance from the support desk…GREAT JOB! I especially love the new sensor application device. My iPhone’s battery life also wants to thank you…(don’t need to use the app on the phone anymore) Keep up the great work…and thank you for making Type 1 a better place to live. R Horres

    Dont update on a weekend

    Did every step and when I got to press “Update”, the spinning wheel of no action is present for HOURS, while I sit waiting for customer support to call me back. Frustration both with the update software and slow customer support.

    Updater does not work...

    Attempting to download the app and it doesn’t work! How disappointing after applying for the RX for the update, taking the pre-training and then wating for Dexcom to send the G6 sensors, receiver and transmitter. Not impressed and can’t wait to have to pay for the next update…

    I love my tslim but...

    This upgrade process has been tedious and overbearing: 1. Waited over a month for the prescription phase because tandem thought they sent a request to the doctor when it turns out there was never a confirmation it was sent and they just stood by until I called. 2. The training course does a great job at being thorough, however for those of us with more than a neanderthal understanding of technology will be banging our heads against the keyboard while you must wait for the (slow paced) recorded instructions to finish before continuing. I understand that the amount of update requests has been a burden on the company infastructure, but I think more benefit of the doubt could be given on the customer's part to help cut the fat off of this process. With all that (bluntly)said, I am more thankful than anything to be a part of this ecosystem and enjoy the cutting edge tech tandem provides (relative to the medical industry...) and continue to use tandem pumps for the future to come.
