FTP Server Overview

What is FTP Server? FTP Server is an app that allows users to share and exchange files between their computers and other devices using the FTP protocol. The app supports ports below 1024, including port 21. It comes with its own authentication system, eliminating the need to expose computer accounts or create system users for authentication. The app is easy to use and configurable, with options for server root, port, and anonymous access. It supports all kinds of regular files, including folders, documents, photos, movies, apps, backups, and other files. The default document root points to "/Users/*username*/Library/Containers/net.langui.FTPServer/Data/Documents/FTPShare".

    Please update the spinning icon….

I just installed the app and it is easy to set up and just works. Two issues I would like to see resolved: The fact that there are two different icons in the system tray makes no sense, and the fact that the one is animated and constantly spinning is distracting and not infomative. Can you please make that optional so it can turn it off? I know I can move one icon to the Dock, but the other stays there and spins, and spins, and spins…. Second - I use this to have a security camera upload recordings to my Windows - if the Windows crashes or reboots I have to type in a password to start the FTP server which is fine when I am there, but if I am not I will not get crucial recordings uploaded - can you please make that optional too so that it starts automatically if the computer reboots without havng to type in the password each time?

Perfect but there is a glitch with WebDAV

For some strange reason very rare and in long intervals the app will cause the built in WebDAV to stop function properly. After I go to FTP Server app menu and choose Restart option it starts working immediately.

Simple, effective and plugs a hole Microsoft created.

This little app is very easy to set up and use and saves you tons of work trying to put back what Microsoft took out of PC. I was really in a bind needing to restore an IP phone and the only way to do so was via FTP. On the precipice of ripping all my hair out I found this great little app that solved my problem in less than five minutes. This is very simple configure yet robust in options. Anyone relying on their Macs to do some network duty should find great use here.

    Works Great!

I have some old Macs running on Windows OS 8 and 9 and since Microsoft has deprecated AppleTalk, I can't have any of those Macs communigate with my modern Macs. This app fits the bill perfectly as I can download files from the internet on my new Windows, turn on the FTP Server, go to where my old Macs are, fire up Fetch or Transmit, get the files trnasferred, and turn the server off whrn done. The server is password protected so you can ru e server at least that way on port 21. You csn also use SFTP for a secure link. Very cool to have this.
