    It’s Good for a GUI Scanner

    It’s not terrible, and its not Great. It’s good. For me it’s quicker than writing a bash/Terminal script. You can create ranges to scan and save them, along with port scanning. You can initiate a HTTP/VNC etc.. connection from the application which is nice. my only gripes are that it can be combersome to navigate the menus. It’s difficult to disable multiple nic scanning. Example; I have have several nics and I can’t disable the scanning of those subnets.. Other than that its pretty good.

    Does a good job of scanning, some small niggles

    It does a good job of scanning the network for devices including name, Windows address, ip, ipv6, manufacturer. Some small niggles: The default ITALIC font choice is unfortunate but luckily there is a font customization option in the prefs. Does not remember column order. I like to reorder columns in a certain way and quitting the app loses my ordering. Same issue with the Regular and Home versions of this app. Sometimes it shows some of the Microsoft devices as “Microsoft device/computer” instead of showing the name and proper icon. Waking the device and/or rescanning the network or restarting the app seems to fix the issue. The Prefs panel uses very small fonts and controls. Wish it would use the system standard sizes so it would look normal.

    Great tool

    This is the perfect tool for keeping track of and organizing my IP addresses in my house. I have around the 60 wired and wireless devices in my house. This device helps me identify devices using my DHCP range so I can assign static reservations for them in my router, or at lease understand what they are and investigate if they shouldn't be there. Wonderful tool.

    I've been able to use this app to identify the devices on our home network. The gateway and routers on my net don't identify all connections. This app showed the virtual net from my DirecTV. I'm an ametuar geek, this is the best app I've found for monitoring my home net. I never would have guessed there were 36 networked devices in our home.

    I Agree ... Indispensible

    When trying to think of what I might say that woiuld capture my experience with this App, I happened to glance at another review title: Indispensible. It sums up in a word my feelings about IP Scanner Pro. I'm not trained in networking beyond stuff I've just picked up along the way. It's not something I use professionally at all. But, I find I'm constantly using it to troubleshoot problems with my network. It's easy to use and has helped me out countless times. Highly recommended.
