Perfect for my needs!
This app has all the things I need! I highly recommend it, if you are making screenshots for manuals and other instructional materials. PROS Separates everything on the screen into layers, so I can easily delete menu bar clutter, desktop icons, even the desktop itself. It captures the cursor in its own layer, so I can put it wherever I need it. In Photoshop, it also puts the little info boxes that PS generates, for instance the one showing how many pixels you’ve moved, into their own layer. It separates drop down menus (and submenus) into their own layers. Talk about making my life easy! It can take timed screenshots, so I can set it up, and then hold down keys that would prevent the screenshot from working You can save the screenshots to any folder on your hard drive CONS It doesn’t let you change the keyboard shortcut (shift-command-5) There are no social media gizmos, but since I’m doing the screen shots for instructional materials, I don’t need that. It might be a consideration for others, though.
Almost Perfect
This app is awesome. The only thing I could think of which would make it better is grouping of layers in the generated document. For example, each status icon on the menu bar gets its own layer in the document -- it would be great for these to all be grouped together in order to make managing layers easier.
Freaking Brilliant!
You can actually move the items in the screen shot around independently to make your screen layout perfect for window position and getting rid of specific elements which may be privacy issues. Only nit is that command-shift-5 is reserved for system. Needs to be command-shift-6 or even just let the user set it up in the System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts. (works great in Big Sur beta too ;-)
Very nice app
If you do a lot of training documentation and video tutorials, this app is an amazing way to capture your screen and remove unwanted distractions. Simple and effective. Would agree that it would be nice to group the layering, but doesn’t make or break the app at all. Props TXTLABS.
Very cool app
This is very similar to Layersapp at less than 1/5 the price at retail. It saves all your screen elements into a layered PSD file.
