LOVE THE GAME…. UNTIL IT FREEZES
This game is a lot of fun and very addicting! It's very easy to play it for hours at a time and not notice it. However, because of that, it is extremely frustrating to be in the middle of playing and the game suddenly freezes, and then causes my PC to restart. Especially when this happens at a point that will require me to start all over from the last saved point, that could sometimes waste about 15-20 minutes of my time. I always click "Ok" to report this problem to Microsoft. I'm hoping this problem is fixed soon before i lose it! If not for that one bug, I would have no problem rating this game 5 stars.
Steering is impossible.
I think this simulator has great potential but I cannot steer my truck. I have tried multiple settings for the steering, I've tried keyboard alone and keyboard and mouse together and while steering is easier while driving at speed, it's impossible at five or ten miles an hour and as a novice, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out the necessary commands, a job made all the more difficult because the controller instructions cannot be printed. The visuals are great, the fun associated with being on the highway in unknown territory is all there. The detail built into the simulator is terrific, if not all that accessible, it's filled with attractive possibility but right now I'd suggest that you wait to buy until you read that a patch (which I've read is coming) is out and successfully in place. I very much look forward to the problems being solved but it is disappointing to have paid so much for a game I cannot use.
Good, but a few issues
I have enjoyed playing this game the past few days. I do have a few issues going on that are a tab bit annoying… First, I am running an Windows with 3.06 Intel i3 with 12GB of RAM. There is a consistent screen skip that has resulted in many cargo damages as the vehicle is nearly uncontrollable when these occur. In addition, the time it takes to make money is a little too long. I do not have the ability to spend hours playing a game, but like to hop on and take a break from the daily routine. The speed of this game is a bit slow to allow the casual gamer to enjoy the offering.
Barebones, Overpriced
Euro Truck Simulator does what it says on the tin. It allows you to drive shipments of various goods across Western and Central Europe. But that's it. You will not be touring Europe. The routes that the game offers are straightforward; there is only one way to get from City A to City B and you will not get lost along the way. When you arrive in that city, it will be represented by half a dozen roads that take you to the trucking businesses important to the game. You will never have to pull over and peruse your map, nor will you ever be able to drive the streets of London or get to explore alternative routes through Germany. The game is just too small. As a result, the game really isn't worth $30. Even $20 seems a steep. Especially when you can get a comparable experience playing their other game, the $10 Bus Driver.
Ehh
I downloaded this after i got Euro Truck Simulator 2, and lets just say, i’d rather play euro truck simulator 2 for 1 year rather than euro truck simulator for my entire life.
