  Forced upgrade to a less functional product

  I downloaded this new version of Timeline 3D when I upgraded to iOS Sierra — I had been using one from 2011, but that version can’t even be opened in iOS Sierra. So, I downloaded this compatible version, particularly to open projects that I created in the past. As users of the education version have commented, this new version doesn’t have a horizontal bar that marks the length of events… That’s an important feature for understanding the duration and overlap events in a timeline. Nor can you o.. read more verlay multiple timelines, which also helps visualize complicated events. Also, you still can’t zoom in to see events or a smaller span of time in the 3D when your timeline spans many years by a scrolling function or zoom—the events remain tiny and unreadable. I’d be willing to pay for a version that could do those things. I’m at a loss to say anything that’s “better” about this upgraded version… Using this to visually organize information is worse that the previously helpful and useful versions. If you’re using a legacy version of Timeline 3D, be sure to export all your files in PDF or some format that isn’t dependent on Timeline 3D before upgrading to Sierra or downloading this version.

  This application has deteriorated terribly

  What a huge disappointment, this application has gone from good to terrible. I used this application many years ago to generate timelines for a few projects of mine at work and it was great, it did what I needed it to do, it was easy to use and the timelines it produced looked good. I decided to use the product again for some personal projects recently and what a let down. The app is irritating to work with because there is only a 3D view, no 2D view and the 3D view keeps jumping up and down whi.. read more le you are looking at it for no apparent reason, this is so irritating it is causing me to look for another package to create timelines with. I also find the lack of a 2D view very irritating, a 3D view is only necesary when a timeline is interative so making the 3D view the default is in my opinion extremely stupid. The user interface is clumsy, the lack of detailed customisation is limiting and the price to unlock all the feautures of the application is ridiculous if one consider's how limited the functionality of the application is. I think this application has gone from being excellent to being a piece of junk software.

  About Timeline 3D

  Over the years, I purchased two copies of this (2008) and again in (2010) as part of various promos. It looks like they’ve moved it into the Windows App Store and part of the compromise is that it’s a free download with $25 as an export feature. Considering even though I’ve owned it for 7 years and I’ve never used it other than to dabble, I’d have to say this is a net-win for most people as you can basically try and use for free, and only pay for it if you need to produce something for video, pr.. read more esentation, or web editing, all for about half the retail price of the original. As per usual for developers who have moved into the store, there is no upgrade for previous owners, who I’m sure will disappointed with having to fork over some more money. OTOH, things like Yosemite/iCloud and Retina support may be enough to ease some of the pain. By the way, there’s an iOS version for $10 which I’ve never used, just FYI. In any case, if you ever have to create a multimedia presentation based on a timeline, then it’s worth looking into this. As a free download, it can’t hurt.

  My time wasted

  I was hoping that this would create a PDF so that I can print out my homework with picture on each of the pages with year on every of the pictures, but they minimized my pictures into one by one inch size thumbnail pictures. Even on the slideshow, the picture are still minimized. My homework was for my art class and the pictures need to be big enough to be able to see the art. I’ve worked on my homework for like 7 hours till exported my hardwork into PDF and slideshow. It turns out to be a big t.. read more ime disappointment for me. At least I just realized that I could’ve done better with Keynote than this when the slideshow actually use the Keynote. Now I have to do my homework whole again. *SMH* If you are student and a Windows user like myself, don’t waste your time or bucks on this, just stick with Keynote!

  I Love Timeline 3D

  I give presentations using Keynote. I use slides with MP4 movies exported from Adobe Premier Pro and I export Image sequence and slideshows for presentation from Timeline 3D. I also export Timeline WebGL files for posting on the web. I love what Timeline 3D does and hope that they continue to support it and add new features, such as, perhaps, a 3D Horizontal presentation mode in addition to the beautiful verticle mode in the current version. I have had the occasion to need support and have found.. read more Adam to be very responsive and helpful. BeeDOCs is one of those great small companies that makes a unique, easy to use and very valuable tool, if you have a need for an excellent Timeline tool with lots of export choices. I was happy to pay $25 to unlock the export choices. These have been upgraded since the last version—many great improvements.
