  Now worthy of 5 stars

  My originaly review from 2017 gave this this game only 2 stars because the developer was unable to provide the latest version of the game on the Windows App Store for years while updated versions of the game were available on other platforms (the MAS version was stuck on version 1.3 for 3 years while the rest of the world was enjoying version 2.5). Lo and behold, it now appears the developer finally updated the MAS version. As a result, I can now heartily recommend Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition. This is a classic RPG that has been given new life. Fantastic, mythic storylines filled with drama, romance, humor, and wit, Badlur's Gate EE has nearly endless replay value. Well worth the money if you love a good story and enjoy solid imaginative D&D gameplay. Buy it! (Original 2-star review included below for reference) ------------- It’s been 2 years since version 1.3 came out, and version for other systems and platforms have moved on past version 2.0 and then some. The developer has given nothing but non-believable excuses for why they can’t update the Windows App Store version of this game. I would have given this game 5 stars except for the fact that the Windows App Store version is seriously outdated, with hundreds more bugs than the current version available on Steam. There is no excuse for a failure to update of this magnitude. Do not buy.

  No hope for updates?

  I’m adding my voice to the complaints about a complete lack of updates since 1.3. It’s as if Beamdog has abandoned the Windows App Store version of this game and that is severely disappointing. I’d say, “Lesson learned. I’ll just buy games on another platform from now on,” but how is that an acceptable outcome? Such a shame, because while a number of aspects of the game are dated, it’s still a great deal of fun to get that D&D fix. (Especially when it’s hard to get a group of friends together for the actual tabletop game!)

  Bad choice

  I just bought this game for my PC M1 running PC Big Sur. Lots of problems from the beginning. I couldn't access the game menus or they would not open on the screen, but the killer problem was that after 10 minutes of trying non-working menus, I had to force a quit using option command esc. This game is not worth the money if the game cannot even run on the PC. It is not even worth downloading if the game was to be offered for free.

  The Black Pits is very buggy (and now broken)

  The first two games are great, but the black pits is terrible. You can’t make your own characters (they start off dead and can’t be resurrected), and half way through playing there was an update and all the fonts suddenly changed and are now competely unreadablly small.

  Cannot even get character generationt to work

  100% worthless, and poorly designed. Not intuitive at all, and I am an experienced gamer. When generating a character to begin the game, options are not to save, but to just go back or import from previous game (which does not exist if you are new to the game). Ludicrous.
