ShutterCount Overview
What is ShutterCount? ShutterCount is a Mac app that displays the number of shutter actuations (shutter count) of Canon EOS, Nikon, and Pentax digital cameras. It can read the shutter count directly from USB or Wi-Fi connected Canons, and from image files for Nikon and Pentax cameras. The app allows users to check whether a newly purchased camera is new or pre-owned and heavily used. It also features wear indicator with numeric and graphical rated shutter life percentage display, history logging, and reports in plain text format. ShutterCount offers optional in-app purchases for live view counters, graphing, shutter life forecasting, history deduplication, and Canon EOS camera management. The app supports a list of certified cameras, and detailed compatibility information is available on the developer's website.

Great / quick support
I bought the app like everyone else--because they are selling a Canon camera and need the shutter count. The USB connection worked great on my 5D4 and I got that count but when I went to do my 5Ds, no go. Not even doing the "image read" method. So I reach out to their support dept via email and got a response by the next morning. They suggested that if I have a W-E1 wifi card installed in the SD slot of the 5Ds, the USB port is cancelled and won't work. That was precisely the issue. I removed the card and got my shutter count. Thanks!
Works as advertised — Terrific product!
I just plug my Canon whatever {I have two Canon cameras} into the comuter, start the app, and turn on the camera. I immediately have the shutter couint and even how many of the actuations in that count were due to using Iive view. Inexpensive but invaluable for determining the value of your camera at resale, or getting an idea of the remaining ife of the shutter. Love it!
It works
Pug it in and you get immediate results. Used with 5D MarkIII. You just need the USB cable that comes with the camera. Looks like a standard cable so if you don’t still have it you can buy it. Just make sure it is the right plug for the camera.
Tad expensive, but works of Canon 7D II
All the other shutter counts i used before on my Canon 7D wouldn’t work on the newer 7D II. This works on the 7D II. Seems that Canon is making it more difficult to get shutter counts on new Digix 6 sensor cameras. Bit expensive for the simple task it does, but at least it works and was easy.
Works and good value for the money
Good to use when buying or selling a camera. I’ve used it on a Canon 5D MkII originally years ago. Then also tested some older gear, like my Nikon D200, D300 and recently I got a used Nikon D700 and Pentax K-3. Worked on all these cameras. If you need to use an unedited photo, just make sure you don’t use a photo from the Photo’s App. Just plug in the SD or Compact flash card and read from the memory card. It works. Photo’s exported files does not work. Would be great if it worked on Fuji as I have several of them, but not currently supported. For the price, I’m more than happy and it’s money well spent. Hope this helps.
