Nova Golf Overview

What is Nova Golf? Nova Golf is a golfing game for Mac that offers realistic ball physics, stunning 3D graphics, unique courses from around the world, customizable characters, career mode, multiplayer, and high replay value. Players can purchase custom clubs and golf balls using virtual currency earned in-game or through in-app purchases. The game has a custom music score and a best rounds list for each course/difficulty setting. The system requirements are Mac OS 10.7+, CPU Speed - 2.2 GHz, Memory - 2GB+, Video Ram - 256MB+. The game is developed by Nuclear Nova and is part of a collection of games available for Mac/iPhone/iPad/iPod.

    Casual Fun

    Been playing this for a year or so and really enjoy it. It isn’t a perfect, ultra serious golf sim, but a casual game that’s easy to get started and easy to improve with practice. Unlike other reviewers, I have not found the need to spend any extra money…simply play through the tournaments to gain experience points which improve your accuracy, distance, putting, etc. The graphics are fine (although there are occasional shots where the ball either becomes invisible or seems to float - the only reason I won’t give the app 5 stars), the controls are simple and intuitive, and you can play a round in 20 minutes or so once you get the hang of it. This is one of the few games that has lasting value for me and hasn’t been forgotten about in a week or two.

    Start up issues

    About every other time I open this, it won't let me start playing. I have to force quit it and restart it repeatedly to get playing. When it DOES work, it's fine, I just wish it would run consistantly.

    Swing Meter and game

    Over the last 6 months the game has become glitchy, by jerking and jitterig through all of the play. It is especially difficult to play using the swing meters because of the jerking and lack of smoothness. I don't recommend this game until the programming is fixed.

    Too Many Bugs

    It does not seem like the developer is maintaining/updating this game, and hasn't done so for years. The game is very buggy and begins to become unplayable/unwinnable unless you make in-app purchases. I've given up on this game because it is so outdated and full of glitches.
