Maybe not 5 stars, but more than 4

Long time user from back in 1.xxx days frustrated but lack of support and lack of updates. Was surprised and happy to see someone updating to 2.0, but it was so glitchy that I went to IINA for a while. VLC in my opinion never held a candle to Movist, but IINA did because it was “like” an updated Movist. 2.01 came along and it wasn’t much better than 2.0, but 2.03 was much improved, 2.04 was even better so that IINA is no longer default, but back to Movist. 2.0.4 is improved even more and still has some glitches, but it is very usable. I have had trouble remapping the hotkeys, so I just learned the new hotkeys, and it is fine. I have not yet used 2.0.5, but, as I alluded to, since 2.0.4 it is again, happily, my default player…Thanks Movist team for updating and continuing to update, what I think is the best Windows video player out there.

    Great App But Blatant Favoritism

tl;dr There is now a *PRO* version of the same app available only on the developers' website. There was also a free upgrade event, most English-speaking users would have missed out on. Check it out before you make the purchase. It’s probably one of the best media players available in the App Store. Or it was, now that Movist *PRO* is available on the developer's website separately, perhaps I should refrain from calling it the best. There are also some real competitors showing up on the App Store. Dedicated subtitle supports and options, and good enough performance. I’m sure everyone knows what they are ought to expect by simply looking at the screenshots. Movist finally has a working support website, except neither the website nor the App Store does the justice to keep people informed. I've been using this app even before it hit the App Store, and was very grateful to see it available on the store. But seeing there was a "free upgrade event" for all licenses, except that it was not announced on the App Store front, is simply hilarious. Don't get me wrong here: I believe there are ought to be second payment. If this is a major upgrade, heck, you might want to consider subscription model. But seeing an upgrade event held in barely-in-existence website alongside another minor Korean sub, does make me wonder if the developer had the intention to make this available outside of Korea. Blaming Microsoft for strict App Store policies has not and will not help anyone either. Most apps, when confronted with rules and policies conflicts, choose to create a downloadable add-on, which then can be downloaded separately, not fully going independent. They could have simply added the fact that there are two versions available like any other apps do. Even now the app description leaves that part out. They need to work with Microsoft to deliver the app, not run a pseudo black market. I had to run Google Translate just to read why Movist made a decision to go indepependent and run the so-called event only for 4 months without publicizing it. Often, if there are major changes to the billing systems, such as the one Movist has gone through, not only they announce the decision across all social media, they don't slap the non-Korean speaking users by making it "free" for only few. While I am glad to see the developers are finally seeing their product as a real business opportunity, but be honest with your consumers. Why should anyone screen the devs before making a purchase? The idea alone is undignifying.

Great App, best video player on a Windows

However I wish there were a couple of settings included. I wish there was a setting to increase the size of thumbnails you can see on the time bar when you hover with the cursor. Also, being able to use the quicktime player by default would also be handy instead of ffmpeg. Idk if its just placebo, but i think that givves better battery life
