WeatherMan Lite Overview

What is WeatherMan Lite? WeatherMan Lite is a weather app that displays weather information for a single city. It offers three ways to view weather information, including in a window, in the menubar, and in the dock. The app uses data from the National Weather Service to show current conditions, extended forecasts, weather alerts, and radar images for US cities. It also allows users to add custom images from any URL. The app supports AppleScript and offers a simple quick start guide on the AfterTen website. The full version of the app is required for multiple cities. Users are encouraged to contact the developer before posting technical issues in a review.

    Still works, icons dated

I bought this app years ago and it still works while many other low cost weather apps have stopped working. Unfortunately the menu bar icon graphics are pretty dated and don't match the currently PC look very well. It would be great to see an update there. Also it only seems to let me save one location at a time (adding a new one overwrites the existing one).

Great app for National Weather Service forecasts and alerts

After using Weatherman LIte for some time now, I’ve found it to be a great app for keeping updated on NWS current conditions, forecasts, alerts and radar. I use the menubar icon only so I don’t know about the dock icon issue but what I do know is, there are no disappointments here. I would rate it A+ for functionality, B+ for appearance and A+ for system compatibility.

    Clunky UI. Great App

Weatherdock stopped working a few days ago. I chose this as its replacement. I prefer this app in most ways. My two gripes: Why is the menubar text the wrong size, and why is the background a different shade of gray than the rest of my menubar? That's poor design. The preferences UI is clunky, but once the app is set up, you won't need that anyway. On the other hand, the way the forecast is laid out in the menu is excellent. And I appreciate the ability to remove stuff from the menu that I don't want (humidity, wind speed, etc). I also like the ability to have the menubar display only the icon and temp. To the author of the app: PLEASE fix the appearance of the info in the menubar to match the look of OSX. Fix that and this is a five star app, despite the clunky UI prefs.

    free…BUT

When it works, it’s great. Numerous options-more than any other weather app I’ve used. That said, LOT’S of error messages asking user to copy & paste crash info. into email to the developer. After clicking off box, app. crashes & has to be restarted and/or reinstalled. Emailed developer with crash info. numerous times, never received a reply. SPOILER ALERT-paid version has exactly the same problems.
