Monal Overview
What is Monal? Monal is an open-source XMPP chat app that allows users to connect to the free public chat network without needing to learn about XMPP. The app has a strong focus on privacy and does not have any ads or metrics software beyond anonymous crash reporting. Monal implements certain XMPP extensions to improve mobile communication, including push notifications, message carbons, stream management, XMPP ping, message archive management, client state indication, and HTTP file upload. The app also supports OMEMO encrypted chat and can work with corporate XMPP servers that require VPN.
