Very, very beta. Not a full-fledged Windows app.
Let me put it this way. If you want to undo something, pressing Command-Z (the universal "Undo" command since before Windows OS even added color graphics) won't work. Neither will the "Undo" command in the "Edit" menu -- it's grayed out. The only way to undo is to press the tiny "Undo" button in the window because, you guessed it, this is just a straight check-a-box port of the iPad app to the Windows with seemingly next to nothing done to make it a more proper Windows app. You know what menu command DOES work? "Show colors," which pops up a color palette window that ... mostly does not do anything except change text color, because changing the colors of the brushes in Noteshelf is handled the same way (holding the mouse button down on a color until the in-app color palette, a completely different color palette, shows up) as it is in iOS. Makes sense there, makes none here. Why can't I tear off the brushes palettes? Why can't I right-click to edit a brush's color? Is this all Catalyst apps can do? I sure hope not, because this is, while sort of functional, also sort of embarrassing. I don't necessarily regret the purchase, because I just wanted an easy means to view my notebooks in a Windows window while I work. This does that, however clunkily (VERY clunkily). For any needs more complicated than that, this simply isn't ready and truly not worth your money. I hope it gets there, but these early Catalyst apps are really, alarmingly incomplete.
Noteshelf finally on the Windows
I've been using Noteshelf on my iPad Pro for several years. I like to take hand written notes and it has worked awesome for that. I synce to Evernote but viewing the noteshelf notebooks there always left somewthing to be desired and was never completely in sync. When I heard about catalyst I hoped noteshelf would jump on board on the Windows and it's finally here. I only use it to view the notebooks I created on the iPad and it is working great so far. I have not expereinced the bugs I've seen in the other reviews but again am only using it to view notebooks in a read only fashion.
Worth it for the helf-price and to support future editions
Noteshelf is stylus-down the best handwriting experience on iOS. So even though this is more beta than App Store-ready, I'm happy to support. I've been using Noteshelf for years. I've tried a lot of other writing/notetaking app, and I always come back to Noteshelf. I don't know what magic they bake into it, but the handwriting experience is most like natural pen to paper of any of the literally dozen other apps.I've tried. Yes, there are bugs here. But I have confidence that the devs will get it together.
Kind of Insulting
I'm a huge fan of Noteshelf. Been using for years on iPad Pro. One of my favorite and most used apps. In that context, even at half price, it's kind of insulting to charge people that are already paying for the Premium version on the iPad. You SHOULD have been able to view your notes ANYWHERE from the outset. Beyond that, it offers very little value. As a stand alone, it's pointless. If you're already syncing with Evernote it doesn't add much to what you are currently doing. It does not have handwriting to text capabiity nor does it allow you to search handwriting. It's really just a viewer for the notes you've created on iPad. So, what's the point? I kind of dinged my view of Noteshelf a bit.
