Ad blocker Overview

What is Ad blocker? Magic Lasso Adblock is an ad-blocking app designed for Safari users on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It uses the native content blocker API in Safari to provide the fastest and most efficient ad-blocking experience. The app blocks all ads, including YouTube ads, pop-ups, anti-ad block messages, and unnecessary privacy warnings. It also prevents ad tracking, lowers data usage, and doubles battery life. Magic Lasso Adblock includes a curated set of best-in-class ad-blocking rules and allows users to add any site to their allowed sites to disable ad-blocking rules while browsing. The app is private, ethical, and not paid by advertisers. A Pro subscription is required, with a 30-day free in-app trial available. Pro subscriptions are charged annually and are automatically renewed unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.

Software Reviews and Criticism

    Does exactly what it advertises.

Ad Block by Magic Lasso is completely free, doesn't nag you or barge in on you to upgrade to an annual subscription, and blocks ads without breaking a sweat. Pages load faster with far less hassle. I have zero regrets about downloading and installing this app on all my devices.

    Subscription is per device 👎🏻

I paid for the pro subscription on my Windows. I installed the iOs version on my phone and tried to restore purchases. After several attempts to restore purchases failed, I contacted the developer and was told that iPhone, iPad and Windows are all separate restrictions and that additional work was required to make them all seamless. $15 a year for a subscription that does not work on all my devices is TOO MUCH.

    Clean As A Whistle…

After some back and forth with Magic Lasso's surprisingly responsive and patient tech support, I am up and running. My ignorance and neglect of enabling content blockers in the Windows and iOS preferences had kept the application from working. So far, AdBlock is working beautifully. In addition to blocking ads, webpages seem to load more quickly and smoothly, with fewer annoying jerks as ad servers deposit their 'messages.'

Paid for Pro, still got ads

After paying for the pro-version, I was surprised I was still getting You Tube ads. So, I had to double up with another ad blocker to fix that. Everything was perfect after that. The last update informed users that it would be allowing "good ads" to be seen. Now I am seeing ads where I previously didn't see them, such as Reddit. I ask, what is the point of paying for a premium version of an ad blocker when the developer allows "good ads" to be seen? Save your money, skip the pro version.

    Signficant reduction in CPU Usage

I have a number of sites I use for research, but they get my CPU cranking after just a few minutes of browsing from all the ads. I don’t hear my fan nearly as much now that I have Lasso running when I browse. Highly recommend. All you need to do is isntall and then forget about it. And it’s super easy to reload the page with ads if you want/need.
