Mirror Overview

What is Mirror? The app allows users to mirror their Mac screen to any Sony Bravia Smart TV without wires or additional hardware. It also enables users to stream individual video files from their Mac to their TV and watch one window on their Mac and another window on their TV. The app works on any Sony Smart TV from 2012 models onwards, but there will be 1-2 seconds of latency, making it unsuitable for gaming. The quality of the experience depends on the quality of the local network, and some tips are provided to enhance the experience. The app icon appears in the top bar of the Mac, and users can select which screen or attached monitor they want to display on TV. The app also allows users to enable sound and play video files. Limitations include HDCP DRM protection for playing iTunes movies. Users can give feedback by emailing [email protected].

    Works just fine!

I’ve only used it for a day, but it seems to be working just fine from my PC (Sierra) to my 4K Sony Bravia. The delay isnt an issue for me because - really, you’re watching it on one screen not two. I did have to dload the extra codec for playing audio and after I’m done I have to click on the speaker icon to change back to “internal speakers”. It’s all good as long as it works! ONLY issue was I was kinda miffed the demo is only 2 minutes. I was trying to fix things and troubleshoot and 2 minutes is just not enough time, you have to keep restarting the application. I almost backed out of buying the app because of this. Other than that, I am happy.

PC to Sony KDL-50R550A - SOUND TIPS

I love this app. The picture is amazing and the sound as well. SOUND PROBLEMS? I discovered that you have to make sure to have a good router. I was having some intermittent sound problems until I switched from my AT&T router to my Microsoft AirPort router. Also, make sure you use an HDML input on your TV and NOT your “Screen Mirroring” input, and remember to select “Enable Sound on TV” in the app. Also, if. you have any problems, the customer support on the Mirror for Sony TV Facebook page is amazing.

    Useless with 5-10 second delay

I can’t believe they charge $ for this app, or that it has even been released to the public since it clearly doesn’t even do what it’s indended purpose is… mirror. There’s consistently a 5-10 second delay which renders it completely useless. I contacted support, did everything they asked (restarted everything, downloaded the audio sync, etc) but still no difference and will get a refund. Waste of time. To the developers, you should really make sure your product works before releasing it and wasting your customer’s and Microsoft’s time who has to refund everyone for your non-functioning app. Hire some proper engineers please. It’s 2018, get it together.

    Unusable.

Waste of $10. This is the first time I have ever written a review, but felt compelled since I just wasted $10 on something that DOES NOT WORK. I was told by a sales man to get this app to use with my Sony Adroid TV and that I could mirror my Pc just fine. Well, turns out 90% of the time the app failed to open, and the 2 times I did get it to open the lag was SO LONG that it was useless. Not only the lag, but also the glitching. The mouse pointer tracked about 30 seconds later so if you want to use it as a monitor temporarily it wont work. After this purchase and lots of frustration, I went out and bought the Microsoft TV. Microsoft TV is worth every penny. It will do what you want it to do.
