GFXBench Metal Overview

What is GFXBench Metal? GFXBench is a 3D graphics benchmark app that measures graphics performance, long-term performance stability, render quality, and battery life. It is a cross-platform and cross-API app that allows users to compare their results with other uploaded results on the Compare Page and the website. The app requires an active internet connection and outgoing data traffic to run all tests. The collected data helps establish a database of results. The app offers various tests, including Aztec Ruins, Car Chase, Manhattan 3.1, T-Rex, ALU, Alpha Blending, Driver Overhead, Fill, Battery Test, Render Quality, and Render Quality (high precision). Users can review the hardware and graphics capabilities of their device on the Info Tab. If users need help, they can contact the support team via email.

Software Reviews and Criticism

    Worked for me

Of all systems I would expect this application to die on, it would be mine. It’s a 2009 Windows Pro, flashed to 5,1, with an NVidia GTX750ti and upgraded 6-core Xeon CPU, running High Sierra. It worked perfectly and showed me my video card is fully compatible with Metal.

    Working again

Upgraded to High Sierra and now it doesn’t work. Says network error when I attempt to start a benchmark. Update: I guess after a couple HS updates, it works again. Crashed the first time I loaded, then it was fine.

Those Kishonti programmers sure are smart and they can do anything!

I’m very pleased to see such a smooth app. Nice work to the developers, you are gods amongst gods ;) :P :O

Won't work without collecting info and phoning home first

Try this app without allowing it internet access. Spoiler alert—it fails. I might consider sharing info if it worked in the first place but it won't work offline so uninstalled.

    Hangs frequently

Needs progress bar for loading tests since tests hang frequently during loading with no indication if it is still progressing, need an option to abort test instead of quitting entire app, timer for each test would be nice too
