I like everything about this player. It's way more reliable than VLC player.

I need to play videos with all sorts of formats, codecs, aspect ratios, you name it. And so far I haven't been able to stump Elmedia. I like that it stores my playlist even after quitting the app or shutting down. The video controls are great. It's nice to have a noise filtration that's instant and doesn't have to render anything. It might not be the best noise filter out there but to have work instantly has been great. I use it on almost every video I watch. The sound options feature a 10 band EQ. This is the only area I can think of to improve. Maybe have some filters and effects similar to VLC.

    Great Multi-format Video Player

I wasn’t so sure how good this is until I start using it on my old video files. I was glad that it can play video files and their subtitles. This is a versatile video player. I got concerned recently when I read an article that this was found to be infected with some malware on October 19, 2017. But the company quickly responded to the report. Having purchased mine sometime in 2016, my anti-virus did not find any threats on this app when I scanned it. So, I am still giving it 5 stars.

    Suggesition

SInce VLC for Windows does not work well after update, I found Elemdia player is best alternative for me. But two things are annoying. 1. “Control” covers subtitle and not gone for long time. I think 1 second is sufficient. Or I like to delete “control” permanently on the preferences. Frankly speaking, “contol” is not so useful. 2. Auto loading subtitle file does not work. Opening video file, it should also load subtitle file wihtout clicking something else on the menu bar. Please add these features. Thanks.

Great App … didn’t meet my specific need though

I’ll start with the positive because my specific need is very limited: App is beautiful, you can throw a lot of files at it (way more than Quicktime) and has those Microsoft friendly features. It feels like the power of VLC mixed with the elagence of Quicktime. I will defintiely use this a lot. But, I stumbled onto this App looking for an MXF player, which it does play MXF files, for clients to review files easily on sets. MXF’s are a container file though and not ever codec will be supported. I was hoping to get DNxHD support (Avid codec) and it won’t. This is probably related to my camera that creates the MXF files so I can’t knock the App for that. If you have a specific file - you may want to reach out to support first and see if they can play it on their end. If you are just looking for a Swiss Army knife (Perian pun) this is a good one to get.

    Works well...when it works

I had an AVI I wanted to watch, and as we all know, QuickTime doesn't do windows or AVI. Enter Elmedia, which worked as promised, at least on my PC runnning Catalina. When it came time to stream to my Sony A8H, and that's where I have a problem with this app. The TV shows up in the streaming target menu, and the app goes through the motions of preparing the file for display, and the built-in AppleTV even prompts with the passcode, but after entering the passcode in the app, I get "Currently AirPlay to “SONY XBR-65A8H” is not supported. Try streaming to this device via DLNA (look for the device of the same name, but with a display icon instead of an AirPlay one)." There's no information on the publishers support web pages about this issue. Asking to use DLNA is not a helpful one since the Sony doesn't seem to support it.
