Very good fun, spooky but kid safe

These games are all fairly similar with lots of lists of items to click on room by room. Often the items are a bit obscure, leading to click-on-everything mode. But gradually they get easier as you get used to the game. The help along the way is excellent. The graphics and music are terrific. The stories are fun. In this case, it's not exactly the HP Lovecraft story, which adds some unique suspense. There is clearly an avoidance of the seriously scary. These are kid friendly games. The 'Collectors' Edition' extras are enjoyable. I liked the bonus chapter. I played through the entire game within the equivalent of an afternoon, albeit with a headache and aching button clicking finger. But that's my problem. IOW: I found it to be very good fun that kept me interested to the point of not wanting to stop until I'd solved everything. I did find the help provided to be essential during the first play through. But what a great help system! I never needed to touch the walkthrough provided. The help didn't spoil anything but kept me on track with the quests and games without having to waste time running all over to find the next goal location. There are three game playing modes. Start with easy and move up a notch each following play through. The team's obsession with HP Lovecraft is greatly appreciated. They have a lovely series of related games and often toss in a few Lovecraftian obscure references for fellow fanatics.

    Superb Lovecraftian puzzle game

I got this because I’m an H P Lovecraft fan, so this is my first ever hidden object/puzzle game. Got to say, I’m hooked! The game looks and works great, with just enough dramatisation to keep the story clear without getting in the way of the hidden object and other puzzles. Atmospherics are great, including the perpetual rain outdoors and the authentic look of a 1920s fishing village, albeit with a slight art deco twist. The Lovecraftian vibe is a bit more subtle here compared to the Cerasus Media’s ‘Mountains of Madness’ game (which tracked the source material rather closely). That's presumably to make ’Soul Keeper' work as an adventure game, so rather than overtly following the ‘Case of Charles Dexter Ward’ story, the player tries to stop Joseph Curwen stealing the souls he needs to become immortal. This is the special edition version of the game and comes with a whole extra level to be played after the main game is finished, as well as a walkthrough manual and even a copy of the original HPL novella.

    So much fun!!!

I started playing this game and was super impressed by the graphics and gameplay. On top of having the typical hidden object games, it also has mini games and you have to search for clues to solve the puzzles. Its a blast! I did end up purchasing the full game for $4.99 and it was well worth it. It had me so hooked that I was able to complete the game! I will play again, though. The game keeps you interested and keeps you from getting bored with it. Purchasing the game was simple. There was a button saying "unlock now" and I clicked there. It asked me if I wanted to purchase it and asked for my iTunes password and that was it! I'm not sure where others are having the trouble unlocking the game. I believe it can also be done from the home menu screen. I highly recommend this game!

    Very happy!!!

I bought this game & really like it! When I completed it,I started over under a different name and noticed a few differences, mostly in the hidden objects games. I played in the "normal" difficulty setting and trying not to use hints and found that challenging. I am going to try the "hard" setting next and I expect that I will find that to be frustrating.I think the game is definitely worth the price.I also think the music (with headphones on) seems to add a bit of tension to the game. I tend to enjoy the "artwork" involved and not be in a rush to get to the end,but I do understand how some people could be disappointed in the length of the game.
