Disk Map Overview

What is Disk Map? Disk Map is a storage management app that helps users visualize the files and folders taking up space on their internal and external drives. The app scans the drives and creates a treemap display of the files and folders, allowing users to easily navigate and identify large files and folders. The app offers features such as zooming in/out of folders, opening files/folders in Finder, quick look support, five treemap color schemes, ignoring specified file formats and folders, specifying a minimum file size to scan for, compressing files, deleting items to Trash Can or permanently, hiding/showing system and hidden files, and refreshing folders without the need for a new scan. The app has a simple and efficient design and welcomes user feedback for future improvements.

    Folders only?

    Maybe I’m mising something, but the biggest drag about this app is that you must go folder by folder to see what’s there (i.e. have it scan a single folder, the move on to another in a seprate operation). I guess I was just expecting a different app, so maybe it’s my fault, but fiplab needs to be more specific about what type of app this is, and what its limits are. I want to be able to see a global overview of allocation, not just having to go folder by folder. If I’m missing something let me know and I’ll change my review, but I couldnt find anything within the app that gave me different results

    Fantastic and super useful!

    What a well-made and well-designed app! I use this to diagnose what takes up space on my SSDs, which need 20% free to function optimally. This is crucial and the visual representation is so useful. The only issue is there is a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to delete things, but once you figure it out, it’s not bad. It’s not that it deletes too easily, it’s more that it doesn’t, so files are for the most part safe.

    This is a ‘one-trick pony’ app, but it does the best job of helping one understand ‘where the space goes’ i know of. both intuitive and as deeply informative about file space as you could want. *Control* your cleanup efforts with this app.
