    Great Game BUT

I love this game but it should come with detailed instructions because of the intricacies involved to successfully understand the game. I especially like the the visuals of this newer version but the in app purchases are somewhat annoying however, it is a free download. The time restraints can be daunting but it helps to make the game challenging. My biggest complaint is there are no alternatives (such as in game challenges) to win crystals i.e. in lieu of purchasing. Since i don’t suvscribe to social media, and don’t intebd to subscribe, my options in the game are limited, all of us are not on facebook. That should be considered!!! Othewise I love this game and many of the previous versions I have played.

    New Update is Awful

Newer updates are making the game worse with each release. The “Friends” section was redone with the last update. This portion no longer looks like it’s part of “The Secret Society - Hidden Mystery.” It now has the visual look & feel of the G5 marketing page, which takes you out of the game experience and is disruptive to game play. There are also several large, bouncy icons trying to get you to enter your personal information; these will never go away unless you give G5 your email address (for the profile) and access to your contacts (for the friends list). The redesign is so unappealing, both in terms of invasive content and ugly design, that I probably won’t ever click the “Friends” button again. This takes away three critical advantages of the Friends feature: 1) visiting friends earns experience points, helping you advance more quickly; 2) visiting friends earns rewards to help you access photos like the Mill and the Tree of Dates; and 3) friends can exchange gifts from your wishlist, making it easier to complete quests. My enjoyment of the game increased a lot after I started exchanging gifts with friends regularly. Now that the feature is so unappealing (and invasive!!!), my enjoyment will decrease. If I could go back in time and not update, I would.

    No instructions, can't win crystals

The game is pretty good although it is sometimes very difficult to see objects in the scene. A "reveal" option once you've run out of time would be nice. Also, need more time for the scenes to find the objects, as like I mentioned before, some objects are very difficult to see. No instructions. I've been playing for several months now and still don't really know what I'm doing. Wish we could buy crystals with money we earn Or win crystals instead of having to buy them with our money. While I don't usually object to spending money on a game like this, there should be other ways to do so. Can't seem to ever find some of the items needed to gather the collection. They just never come up. But some other items come up over and over. Also it is very frustrating to spend valuable energy and win NOTHING on a puzzle. What's with that? I usually only have enough energy to play 5-6 puzzles a day so even coming up short on one puzzle is enough to make me quit for the day. Other than that... the game is pretty good.

Frustrating at lack of opening instructions for game. Also, some scenes essentially ‘freeze’ when you ‘find’ an object and time keeps running …miliseconds count! this prevents your being able to click on your next ‘found’ object … thus losing valuable seconds. The ‘freeze’ isn’t my computer. The ‘found’ object lingers on the screen while the timer clicks away and that’s what ‘freezes’ your play. By the way, the timer isn’t accurate! Also, you should be able to win crystals occasionally by completing some special scene or something. But I do realize the game is set up so that you have to spend real money to accomplish much. Also the money you win or collect should allow you to buy crystals occasionally. Haven’t made much progress simply because I refuse to spend a ton of money to buy crystals which allow you to purchase tools, power etc. so I muddle along. If someone is willing to spend a lot (and I mean a lot) of their real money then there is a chance they will go much deeper into the game.

    Letting go

I have been playing this game almost every day for over four years to decompress after a long day at work, and for the most part, I’ve loved the challenges, the intricate details and artistic imagery of most of the scenes, and the theme music associated with them. I don’t even mind that it’s a money pit in having to buy more crystals in order to fuel my additiction. And I've always looked forward to downloading the newest scene. However, in the past year some of these new scenes and their stories have been boring and disappointing, with none of the mysterious ambiance and magic of previous scenes, and their storylines have been repetitive. I’m referring to scenes such as family manor, christmas square, the circus, country house, and the worst of them all, pet show. I almost quit playing after that one, but really the last straw for me is the open air cinema scene that, while artistically gorgeous, has a storyline that is similar to at least one other scene that I’ve played. A game is no longer entertaining or relaxing when one is bored and irritated. So although I’ll be sorry to let this addictive game go after four years, I can’t justify spending more money just to end up disappointed.
