1. Hourly News is a simple app that lives in your Windows's menu bar and plays the most recent news updates from multiple news podcast sources with one click.

2. As a podcast app, Hourly News lets to you subscribe and listen to any/all of the most recent NPR, BBC, CBC, ABC, CBS, WSJ, Bloomberg, ESPN, VOA, SRN, FOX News updates, your own custom podcast sources and more.

3. Like every app, download speeds are greatly affected by your connection type (Dialup, DSL, Cable, etc...). Slower connections might take a little longer to download the news updates in Hourly News.

4. Hourly News is a podcast app, giving you access to free publicly available news podcasts.

5. At this time, only sources which are broadcast in English and have a free, publicly-available news podcast can be added.

    Great tool for people who want to stay connected to the world

    I seldom write reviews but Hourly News has been my favorite app for a long time. I had almost given up on keeping up with world news. It solved a big problem for me very simply. No learning curve required. I love comparing news as it’s told in different parts of the world, keeping up with technology developments and now even follow big sporting news which I had completely abandonded. Right now I’m listening to people from Toronto singing the french national anthem showing support after a terrorist attack. Thanks, Hourly News.

    The best but can be better

    Hourly News is intuitive, has a lightweight UI, is relatively customizable, and most importantly it works. A couple things I would like to see added: (1) a community-driven repository of custom sources, and (2) better handling of connection issues (too often it has trouble connecting and skips right away, where when I go back and replay the same source it works - gives up too easily, in my opinion (this is most annoying when it disconnects in the middle of a report and you lose your place)). Once these issues are worked out I will switch from 4 to 5 stars.

    Excellent App

    Finally, a really useful news app! Succinct, timely, easy to use and gets to the heart of the latest news. Much better than apps that have videos, which don’t always work. I have downloaded the iOS version and have told several friends and family about this great app!

    Great news app!

    I like the simplicity of it allowing me recent news updates when I have the time to listen. I would give it 6 stars if it had an alarm feature that would wake me up with a new update as well.
