easy learning app that needs improvements
This app is quick and to the point. It definately shows you the location, capital and state flag. However when it comes to functionality it is lacking. The sound doesn’t work (as I saw in a review prior to downloading it) Also when you do the quiz portion - by selecting state or selecting capitals on the top center it doesn’t take the words away from the map. So when the game asks you where the state is you just have to look for the word. I like the fact that it says "yes" or “no” as feedback for wether you are correct or not. I also wish that it had a test for the flags as well. I recommend this app for a free app that teaches you location. It would be also cool if this app had another feature to teach you how to spell the states names. . .I can do that on my own with pen and paper though. Good luck all who wish to learn and enjoy this app.
No sound
I bought this app for my 4 year old grandson, who is interested in maps and the states. He is not yet reading, so I was relying on the app voicing the names of the states or capitals, but I can't get the sound to work. I have the sound on -- both on the menu of the app and on my computer and am using an Windows OSX 10.7.5, so shouldn't be having problems. I contacted the developer and hope to hear back soon. If the voice works eventually, it sure looks like an engaging and educational app, well worth the cost. UPDATE; It's been three and a half months, and I still haven't heard back from the developer. has anyone been able to get the app to speak the names of the states as they come up, or isn't this a part of the program? (I think it should be, since youngsters are capable of learning this before they are able to read.)
States and Capitals
I am 75 years old and have never learned my states and captitals and wanted to learn them. I am still learning…..it would be nice sometime if there was a game where i had to choose the states without the name on it….but I am not there yet….but that would be harder after a person really knows them.
Excellent learning tool
This is a great application to help you learn the location of all the states and their capitals. I come back to it from time to time to see if I can remember them all however, I still have trouble with the Northeasten small states… Great for kids to use as a learning tool.
