Solid Streamer
Honestly, this is the only 3rd party streaming app that I've ever used, so it's possible there are others which are superior, but in general, this does what it ought to, and seems to do it pretty well. Netflix plays smoother, and looks better than it does when I stream using a browser application. The only real suggestion I woul have is the option to have a detached transport control (etc.). Would be great to be able to see the artist/track, like/dislike the track, etc. without having to toggle apps, or have the player taking up valuable screen real estate when I'm on a single display. Would be fantastic if it could be in the menu bar, but given that not even iTunes does that, that's probably a bit much to ask. In general I'm stoked on this app so far, will probably remain my main OSX media streamer for the foreseeable future.
Good, but with a problem
Good app, you can save/add as many streaming websites as you want, I like the fact that it keeps me logged in even after I clear the history. However, I have a big concern, I saved and I am logged in on one of my streaming websites where I pay subscription and it appears someone is watching shows on my account because the history is most of the time ahead of what I currently watch (example, there was a series of shows I was watching and within a few days, the history showed the series were completed, while I was only half way through them)....this happens regularly with some of my saved shows, so I changed the password, thinking someone accessed my account, but apparently my account continues being used by someone else. I changed my password again to no avail. At this point, I'm thinking that Friendly Streaming, where I'm always logged in on my streaming websites, even when they're not in use, can be accessed by someone else. If that's the case, then there are safety/privacy issues here. Some other reviewer said in some instances, there're shows that start playing out of the blue, without him starting them. Not happy about it!
Fills a needed niche!
I have a large screen Windows in my bedroom since I don't have a separate office. It seemed very silly to get a separate TV when I have this great screen right here, but I found navigating the different streaming services difficult using my browser (lots of lags and frozen links). I also sometimes want to work on personal projects while watching a show in the evening, and it was very awkward to be surfing the web for research while trying to watch on a separate tab. This app completely meets my needs!! When used full screen the picture is sharp, and the interface is super easy to use to navigate between the streaming services i use, and to play videos. When I'm working and surfing the web, the pip is easy to manipulate and adjust so it isn't in the way. Really great!

I'm diggin it. I run my PC with an extra monitor and this makes using my second screen for streaming easy. I've had a few issues with crashing or weird things happening when exiting or entering full screen, but otherwise this app is a simple and clean streaming beast. I can play any streaming service because at it's core, Friendly Streamer seems to be a basic and simplified internet browser with a focus on media playing. I like the pop up controls when in "full screen windowed mode" but I wish those control were the same everytime and just replaced all the streamers controls. Keep it up!
I want to love the app!
It's a very good app, dont get me wrong but there are some kinks that stop me from loving it, but not using it. The main thing is having to go into the menu to change things instead of being able to change things easily from the main screen such as continue to play while minimized, or when maximing the window it remains a window instead of going into fullscreen like other apps. I really dont like this because when you maximize the screen from netflix, it leaves a big window behind and if you switch between the window left behind and the fullscreen the big window overlays the fullscreen so now you have a big window blocking your view. and if you minimize it, guess what...it pauses the video. Thats about it though, other than that it has a lot of really awesome features such as changing the contrast nightness etc.
