What does Friendly Streaming do? Friendly Streaming is a simple and elegant video browser to watch your favorite movies and TV shows on your Mac.
Just open your favorite streaming site, and enjoy Friendly.
▶ ENHANCED PICTURE-IN-PICTURE
Keep a small window open to play the video, while working on another app. Our picture-in-picture works well with Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and most of the streaming sites. You can adjust the window transparency. Keep it always on top. Keep it in place when switching spaces. Remember your preferred size.
▶ CUSTOMIZABLE LAUNCHPAD
Make it easy to launch Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Twitch, Disney+
If your favorite service is not in the list, you can easily add it by URL.
▶ SIMPLE VIDEO ADJUST
Easily change brightness, contrast or saturation on any stream. Netflix doesn’t change its video’s looks based on your monitor’s calibration. Friendly gives you extra control. You can even turn any movie into a black and white "classic". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
▶ NATIVE VIDEO PLAYER
Friendly Streaming includes a powerful native video player, to play videos from your local or shared drive. Supported formats include: MPEG, AVI, ASF, WMV, WMA, MP4, MOV, 3GP, OGG, Real, WAV, FLV.
Friendly Streaming is a third-party video browser.
It is not associated or affiliated with Netflix, Inc, YouTube, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Prime Video or any other streaming service you browse using this app.

Downloaded specifically to avoid using a browser
Just downloaded this app because I wanted to use something that was specifically for watching netflix at 1080p. If you’re reading this, you may or may not be aware that most browsers, i.e. Internet Explorer, Chrome - do not support 1080p playback from netflix. I believe it’s something to do with not having certain rights. Anyway, this program plays movies from netflix at 1080p. You can see the difference vs playing it on a regular browser and as a bonus you can use it for other services too. I’ve been using it for a whole 15mins and I can honestly say this is a great app to put all those services in one place for your mac. Get it, it’s free and it works.
Simple is better.
When I wanna watch, I just wanna go to the content. I don't want things reorganized or reframed; which is why I have always used a browser. But this little app (which basically operates like a browser with clever features) streamlines my content viewing without needing to open a million browser tabs. I am really glad they made a simple way to consolidate my content viewing. I would LOVE if they also made turining it on/off capable by keystroke rather than mouse click, but that is a TINY criticism. The app just works, works well, and keeps things simple for when it's time to view.
I don't normally write reviews for anything, especially apps but this one deserved a review. I absolutely love this streaming app. First off, the quality is sooo much better than watching on the normal internet browser. I also love the feature of "picture in picture" so you can still watch your favorite shows/movies while getting work done at the same time. I wish I discovered this before graduating college, because studying would have been more enjoyable, lol. It's free to download so just try it out! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
We’re living fairly remotely half the year, without grid electricity, and only get cell coverage in the last few years. We run an inverter/ generator to recharge computers & cordless tool batteries daily, and get our internet access via a Verizon Jetpack (hotspot). When it gets dark early, it’s nice to be able to watch a few hours of TV before going to sleep. We had been attempting that on a web browser, but had so many interruptions that it wasn’t worth it. Friendly Streaming has mostly eliminated the pauses (while it buffered), and has allowed us to enjoy Netflix or PBS. Yay!
