xDiagram Overview

What is xDiagram? The xDiagram application is a tool that allows users to create diagram graphics and UML documents quickly and easily. It supports various formats, including VISIO formats, and allows users to import old VISIO formats. The application features smart line/connector, basic shape, pre-defined images, and over 2000 beautiful symbols. Users can add any image file and generate UML class diagrams from C++/JAVA source. The application also allows users to align multiple items, open/save to "*.UMD3" file, export to image file, support print, and capture to clipboard. Other functions include unlimited undo/redo, copy/paste, duplicate select items, group/ungroup items, lock/unlock items position, rotate left/right, and more. The application is customizable and allows users to customize color, font, size, line type, and measure unit and scale.

xDiagram Features and Description

1. Press "Cmd + 4" or click on Capture button to export current diagram image to clipboard, then you could paste that image to another application.

2. The application also allows to DRAG/DROP many image files directly from Finder or pasted image from clipboard to current editing window to add them to the diagram.

3. Press "Cmd + E" to export current diagram to an image file with format of VSDX, SVG, PDF, TIFF or PNG or JPEG.

4. Example: Open [Preview] application, press "Cmd + N" to paste above captured image to view or to save to an image file.

5. xDiagram application could help you make nice diagram graphic documents or UML documents quickly by keeping lines connected to shapes even when they're moved.

6. You could add any image file (support file type: gif, jpeg, png, bmp, pict, tiff) to display as an item inside the application.

7. Press “Cmd + S" to save current diagram to an UMD3 file so that you could load it later for editing.

8. By dragging C++ header(*.h) or Java files, folders into the diagram window, the application will auto-generate UML class diagram for you.

9. Of course, you could paste that image to Excel, Word application too.

10. Image file could be shown in following modes: Stretch / Fit inside bound / Fit outside bound.

11. UMD3 (*.umd3) is the new file type created only for this application.

The best tool for UML and other diagrams - NOW BETTER!

I've used it for several years and it's terrific. It works for UML diagrams and other types, including general-purpose diagrams for books and articles. I've paid more for other tools that didn't do nearly as much or do it nearly as well. October 12, 2017: I originally reviewed this app a while back, and everything I said before is still true. But now the app has something that I wish all apps had: The nag dialog asking me to review the app in the App Store now has a button saying STOP THIS MESSAGE. I have several apps that I like fine except that they constantly NAG me to review them in the App Store. Finally, an app developer realized that if you want good reviews, you shouldn't annoy the daylights out of your users. Well done, Tien Thinh Vu!

One of the most intuitive software programs ever developed

If you've ever tried to create a flowchart or org chart in PowerPoint, you know how frustrating creation of these types of documents can be. xDiagram to the rescue. I read reviews of a number of flowchart software programs on the Windows Appstore and I'm glad I paid attention to the rating of xDiagram. I'm literally blown away with how easy and intuitive this software is to use. I was able to create a fairly complex flowchart that was visually pleasing within an hour of downloading the software. The documentation is reallly good, but the software is so intuitive, you really don't even need it. I'm so pleased with my purchase. This software is worth every penny.

Truely Outstanding App

This is undoubtedly the best diagram drawing app I have ever had. It does layers, imported graphics as objects and much more. Edited diagrams and flowcharts is a snap, and because everything is connected together you try various layouts and sometimes things you hadn't though of end up being the best and most logical. Only one thing I wish the developer would do: in the preferences, add a scale setting (X2,X3 etc) that affects the size shown in the 'Edit text' window. I use a huge 4k monitor, but when setting an object's text a 9 of 10 points it's very difficult to see. Thanks for a great app!

Lacking Well-Established Features

I started drafting on MacDraw and MacDraft in the early 1990s. I could increase/decrease line spacing by simply selecting the box, holding command (and maybe another key) and using up and down arrows to change line spacing--a feature not available at all in this app. I could also edit text directly without opening another window as required here. AND I have to click OK to close the text edit box--rather than just hit return as in 99% of other programs. This makes creating text-intensive drawings VERY cumbersome and time consuming. Please consider adding line spacing and direct text editing in your next revision please. MOST OF ALL, when I change drawing size or orientation in PAGE SETUP, the DRAWING AREA DOES NOT CHANGE and I have to MANUALLY SIZE IT EVERYTIME! Unacceptable!

A Total Game Changer For Me

For many years now, I’ve been looking for a simple and comprehensive app to draw diagrams for my blog articles. XDiagram is, by far, the best software program I’ve ever used for drawing practically any kind of diagram, chart, table, etc… The layout is extremely intuitive and ingeniously logical. Need an arrow? Click on the arrow button and draw your arrow. Need to type in some text? Click on the text button, click where you want your text, and type away. The various adjustments (i.e. font, width of lines, type of arrow, etc…) are all at the top of the diagram box, neatly placed across the screen. I’m an expert in Photostop…and xDiagram blows Photoshop away in terms of ease of use and functionality. xDiagram makes Photoshop look like a clunky mess. The app always functions without a hiccup. Never seen a beachball. I can’t recommend this app highly enough. Trust me, it’s worth TWICE its price.
