Best in class and responsive support
I've tried several of these, some from the Windows App Store and some not; and I think Elsewhere is the best implementation of an ambient sound app for the Windows. CON: It worked on my laptop one time, then the volume slider broke and the sounds take several minutes to get going—this may be a conflict with one of my other apps though. Limited ambient themes (but in-app purchases of additional sound themes might be the whole strategy—to earn a living I suppose; I'm going to buy the Rain one and I'd pay for one with more birds and…I dunno…bees.) PRO: It works perfectly on my wife's Windows—and when I say perfectly I mean the UI is simple, efficient, and all features of the app work as expected. The ambient themes are excellent; I suppose they repeat but I haven't noticed (and that's the main thing that disappoints with other apps like this—I have tried them ALL). Sound quality is superb. I like the in-app purchase option for more themes and I hope they do more! As for the problem with Elsewhere on my PC, I posted a support request via their online form and they got back to me next day. Pretty good support for a free app!
CPU hog: Incompatible with 10.9.2
According to the information provided by the App Store, it lists Elsewhere's as "Compatibility: OS X 10.7 or later”, yet when I reported the app hogging 100% of my CPU, causing my fans to almost constatly operate in overdrive, I was informed by customer service that Elsewhere is not compatible with Windows OS 10.9.2, but that they may add the compatibility in the future. It’s a great, unique idea with almost excellent execution, save for this lack of compatibility with causes CPU and fan issues.
Decent, but controls are inoperative
The Pause control is simply inert. Similarly, the keyboard strokes to invoke are also useless. The only way I can get it to Pause is to go into the info settings, toggle a checkbox, pause again, toggle again... at which it pauses and then fades back in a few seconds later. I have to launch the menubar every time I want to use it, and Quit it every time I want to pause. Very cumbersome. I'd rather just route Thunderspace audio to my speakers from my iPad via Bluetooth.
Why i supported you earlier?
I like nice apps in this store. I was using your app for few years and to support yu i bought extension (rain mode). But after a while, you didn’t updated you application and it works awfully on Yosemite. It glitches, creating strange animation effects and totally unusable. Shame that i spend (dont think im greedy) 0,99 on this unworking app. Fix it pls. There’s much better free alternatives in Windows AppStore, but i prefer your, if you fix it.
