Beautiful!
This is a beautifully animated screen saver/wallpaper, it really looks like you’re looking top down into a shimmering pond full of koi fish that move quite realistically. Very relaxing and pretty to have and it’s fun to show this off when someone is looking at my Windows. Fish screensavers have dramatically improved since the days of Marine Aquarium on my older Windows! Maybe the developer can create something similar to looking into a tank or coral reef full of tropical fish. The only issue I had was that the screensaver mode turned on (I had set it to turn on after 20 min) in the midst of watching a movie on the computer, so it doesn’t seem to know that a movie being played is not necessarily inactivity but this is a very minor issue. Overall excellent app.
Excellent Graphics, but HUGE Energy Consumer
I was enticed by the graphics and am very impressed and pleased with the quality of the screensaver. However I rated this as 2-star because within the first day of the application running, I noticed my PC battery life was drained within 2-3 hours (whereas it normally lasts 8-9 hours), and the fan is constantly ramped to cool the system. I decided to check Activity Monitor and the Energy Impact for Koi Pond was a staggering 257 units (vs 2.6 units for Messages and 2.8 units for Mail). And this is without Koi Pond actively displaying the screensaver, but rather running in the background. I’m not sure why this consumes so much energy while supposedly idle, but it is enough of a deterrent from running the application that I keep the app closed, which now defeats the purpose of paying $2-4 in the first place to acquire it. Nice graphical artistry, but extremely high energy consumption. Koi Pond developers, please find a way to make this app more energy efficient.
Gorgeous!
Absolutely loving this Koi Pond App. Gorgeous and relaxing to watch. After trying the free version I bought the full suite. It has been well worth the relaxing environment it creates. You can run it at startup or opt to start it yourself when you want. A big Thank You to the developers of this gorgeous app! You’ve done an amazing job! I’ve looked for a version of Koi Pond that is windows 10 compatible since I have BootCamped windows, but all I’ve found is pathetic crapware. Thankfully I spend most of my time on OS X anyway, so this is my go-to for desktop wallpapers.
Beautiful, hassle free app!
Serene and well done koi pond, and I have no energy issues. The only negative feedback I have is that the fish eventually stop appearing, and I have to do a restart (which I’m more than willing to do to keep such a perfect app running smoothly, however it does need to be addressed). I’d love to see different dragonflies for purchase like the koi, as well as the occasional koi surfacing for a gulp of air and a splash or two. Otherwise, it’s well worth the money spent and then some! The attention to detail of the art and animation is flawless.
