KPlayer Overview
What is KPlayer? KPlayer is a video playback app that supports H.264/HEVC Hardware Acceleration for smoother playback of 1080p and 4K video files. It also has features such as aspect ratio settings, playback speed settings, skip support, playlist support, continued play support, move to trash support, and plan B support. The app supports SMI and SRT type subtitles with real-time display and TXT type commentary files. It can play M4V, MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, WMV, RMVB, M2TS, TP, TS, and TRP video types in both Native and FFmpeg modes. However, H.264 Hardware Acceleration may not be supported according to CPU/GPU or file format, and HEVC(H.265) Hardware Acceleration requires macOS 10.13 or later and recent CPU. The app uses some dynamic libraries of FFmpeg licensed under the LGPLv2.1.

Handles Chinese subtitles, but displays video choppily
I downloaded this because VLC wasn't working with Chinese subtitles. It can display Chinese subtitles, but unfortunately it makes most video compression formats unwatchable as it displays things extremely choppily. I'm running it on a new PC.
Wouldn't play BDMV
I created a Blu-ray disc using Adobe Encore, but when I tried playing it with my Blu-ray player, there was no audio. In an effort to troubleshoot, I searched the App Store and found KPlayer. I bought it specifically because the sell copy said "'m2ts' files contained in 'BDMV' will automatically be added to the playlist when you open the folder that contains 'BDMV'." I opened the BDR iso image file then started KPlayer, then opened the BDMV folder both inside KPlayer and in Finder. It would not play the file. With KPlayer open, I tried clicking on the m2ts file in Finder and got the message "Opening a file in the folder that is not allowed is not recommended. (Sandbox)". I went to the web site under troubleshooting and found several suggestions requiring command line instructions. I am a videographer/editor, not a programmer. I should not have to know Windows command line instructions to run this ap.
Worth the money, better than other players in some points
I'm using Windows 27`` mid 2010 quadcore model, so I couldn't test its hardware accelaration feature. Well, Kplyaer is definitely worth its price. While other movie players for OS X like movist, GOM, or VLC doesn't show subtitles as intended by subtitle makers (maybe compatibility issue?) this player has processed almost every subtitle I have as precisely as players for WIndows. But its UI is definitely awful. And whenever I play large 1080p mkv files, it starts to load the file and it takes too much time. Sometimes it takes more than 5 minutes. I wish this problem get fixed ASAP. Well, it just version 1.0 and I think it will get better soon. And I am quite happy to see an app developed by a Korean developer as I am. Good Luck
quite good, but need more updates
It plays usual videos quite well(I usually watch 700mb soap operas and some movies with bigger size) And I think it's better to show some indicates when I change some preferences. even though I changed the subtitle's showing speed, it doesn't tell me anything, so I got confused a little bit. and the UI is TOO simple, so I can't get the point what UI saying. It need to be more clear. for example, this program may need to improve its navigation bar. it's just version 1.0, so I hope the developer get the program better soon.
its pretty good
I usually use Mplayer, but some of files, Mplayer having trouble to play it. this Kplayer actually can play ( having so trouble ) those files. Pretty good.
