TaskControl for Asana Features and Description

1. TaskControl for Asana also provides a small Status Bar Menu where you can access all your assigned tasks from all your workspaces at one time.

2. Also you can set a task as completed, a new due date, assign other team members or even write and read comments on that task! It's a really huge benefit for working with Asana.

3. The tasks get indicated with orange (new assigned), grey (due date within this week), blue (due date today) and red (due date yesterday or earlier).

4. TaskControl for Asana stays in your Dock Menu – and is ready when you need it.

5. Also after activating the Asana API connection from the preferences it provides you a badge counter on your Dock Icon.

6. TaskControl for Asana allows you to use your favorite project management tool as native PC App.

7. If your team member comment, complete, assign or add you as follower on a task you will get notified with push notifications.

8. A very nice overview – Asana itself do not provide an overview like this (over multiple workspaces).

9. You decide what to show: All your tasks, tasks within the actual week, within the next three days or just tasks of today.

10. You can also set a default Workspace by right clicking the Workspace in the Status Bar Menu.

11. You can click these notification to directly access the task you need.

Software Reviews and Criticism

Seeing workspaces/tasks in Menu Bar is great, but...

I love, love, love being able to see all of my workspaces and all of my tasks in one glance — via the PC Menu Bar. However, some of the promises made by this app aren't there and some of the functionality doesn't seem to be working as intended. Regarding the promises, the big feature that's advertised is "native notifications" but I've yet to see any come through. Like another reviewer mentioned, I think I'm hearing them but I'm not seeing them. Then again, those sounds could be coming from another app. (I've double-checked notification settings in the PC System Preferences.) Regarding the functionality, you're able to set which tasks you want to display (e.g., "show tasks within this week") and which tasks you want to hide (e.g., "hide tasks more than one week in the future") from within the app Preferences — but applying these settings doesn't seem to make a difference in what you see in the Menu Bar display. To the developer: am I wrong? Am I missing something? I'm more than willing to update this review/rating but I couldn't figure out how to reach out to you directly for app support given that the website to which I was directed for "App Support" was in a foreign language. Also, let me know if I can clarify anything I've written and/or if I can help with providing any specific feedback. I'd love to see this app grow! Best of luck with the development!

It works well! This is a real desktop version of Asana.

I took a chance on this app because I really wanted to find a desktop version of Asana. I've been using it for a week and I dont see any issues with it. For reference, I'm using it with Mojave. I typically don't take the time to leave reviews, but I wanted to share this with anyone else looking for an Asana app. I also want to encourage the developers to continue to update it!!

    Worked for me!

I wanted to leave this review as there were only two negative reviews of this app when I took the chance to download it. I have been using the app for only a week, however, it has worked perfect for me! No delays or issues connecting. All edits to tasks sync in real time to the rest of my team. Overall, I’ve been really happy with the app! It doesn’t add any other special features to the Asana web app, but it’s nice to have a native desktop app.

Amazing! Exactly what I was looking for

I've been shopping around for an app version of Asana's web product (hard to believe that they haven't developed it themselves...), and TaskControl is exactly that. The developer did a great job mimicking Asana's functionality in every respect. If you're looking for a desktop version of this web product - look no further!
