Unresolved Bug and No Communication
I like this app, because it attempts to be a Noisli copy that lives in your menu bar, which is what I wanted. The issue with it is that the save feature doesn’t work (at least for me, and I’m on PC Sierra). Every time I restart the app, I lose those saved mixtures. I contacted the developer about either getting me a refund or just letting me know if there was fix coming soon, and I never got any response (it’s been a couple of weeks). Also, the sound sample aren’t as good as Noisli in my opinion. The coffee shop has an annoying dish clashing sound that is more interuptive than anything else; the train has a bunch of higher pitch noises that aren’t nice either (something rattling, and the wheels squeaking); someone has already mentioned the plink in the rain sound. All 3 sounds might be realistic, but they don’t make for good background noise. So although the interface looks really good and works well (apart from the save feature), this app just isn’t worth it in my opinion. Especially when Noisli and Sleep Pillow are both free, where as this app costs $5 currently.
Poorly Handled Transition
Wow, talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water, your handling of your switchover to a subscription model of financing of this app couldn’t of been done more poorly! You have essentially screwed all your previous customers who have in the past supported you by making their purchases of your app and the extra sound packages, worthless! As stated by others here, “If you wanted to take a one-time purchase app and make it a subscription model, make it a new app.” That way you protect the investment that you previous supportive customers have made in purchasing your app and it’s additional sound packages! But, unfortunately, that was not your goal! As a result, i would guess your be lucky if you get one-in-ten of your previous customer to move over to the subscription model. Not only will I NOT subscribe to the subscription of this app, but I will also never purchase or subscribe to any other app you may offer both here or on the iOS app store now or in the future!
Dissapointed by how the update happened
Look, I understand why apps like this are better served by a subscription model. I have a lot of subscriptions, so that's not really an issue. In fact I'll probably grab the subscription to this as well. What bugs me is that the app never once told me that it was going to update to a subscription version. I can see that the store page says that, but I don't visit the store because _I already own the app!_ I like the app enough that this won't turn me away from it. But I'm steamed enough that I wanted to bring it up. If there are any other major updates in the pipeline, please notify me in app that it's happening.
Great save for couple big bugs
This app is fantastic. Used to use it all the time as I love the interface, the ability to adjust the volume levels and liked the sound files. However, two big bugs prevent it from getting 5 stars. Like a previous review reported the app prevents the Windows from going to sleep (as per indicated in the Activity Monitor window "Prevent Sleep: Yes") so if you forget to quit the app your battery will drain. Second, when awakening the Windows from sleep, the app does not actually play any sounds (this happens intermittently). I have to quit and relaunch the app to get anything working. If you don't mind quitting the app before putting the Windows to sleep and relaunching when you want to use it this is a great app. I'll definitely change my rating once those showstopping bugs are addressed. Thanks!
Works Well, I enjoy it.
Does what I want and works well. I do wish there were a version of the Sea Waves without the bird noises. There is a minor issue that when I put my computer (laptop) to sleep (two external monitors attached) the sound doesn't return when I wake the laptop. And if I disconnect/reconnect an external monitor, the sound goes away. Restarting the app resolves the issue.
