Good, but could be much better
I have really enjoyed this game, and like others, I have found it a bit addicting. But there are several major problems and I often find it frustrating as well. 1) The puzzle includes some unexpected spellings that don’t appear on any of the crossword puzzle solving sites when you get stumped. 2) Definitions given are only for the “root” word (singular, present tense, etc.), even when the spelling needed for the puzzle is a plural (-s, -es), past tense (-ed), agent (-er, -or), etc. 3)The “clue” definition offered is often one of the least common or least expected for the word (little or no help), and sometimes the definition shown after the word has been correctly selected, is different entirely from the clue that was given. Oddly, definitions appear verbatim in a Google search, prompting worries that copyrighted materials might have been used without permission.
LOVE IT, despite major shortcomings
Really fun, and addictive! And I've gotten so much better at bananagrams and scrabble since playing this game!!! There's some major downsides however. First and foremost, there is NO way to remove the ads! Every other minute I'm accidentally hitting the ads at the bottom while playing and some incredibly obnoxious song/video starts playing. Also, there are only a limited number of puzzles and once you've gone through them all it recycles them back from the beginning. Then, there are some issues where legitimate words are missing while sometimes totally illegitimate words are sometimes accepted (proper nouns, abbreviations). Finally, some pleasant sound effects would be a really nice touch that seems to be missing. Despite these qualms, I play this game somewhat compulsively and I still love it. However, I eagerly await some major improvements.
Overall enjoyable but a bit weird
I’m learning new words I’ve never heard of.
Sometimes the words and definitions have a bit of a un-necessary, creepy connotation where they could have used a different definition. Difficult to explain but if you play this game you will see what I mean. Also sometimes the definition clues are frustrating. They use a very obscure definition when they could have used a much more common one. Sometimes there are words it won’t recognize that are commonplace in English language however will expect you to come up with a root that grows in a remote part of Turkey (this is an example) but again you will see when you play. Overall I do enjoy the game, and it is mostly fun to play.
Love It! Serious lexicon with definition clues
I love words, obscure and specific words, dictionaries, reference material, and word games that offer definitions. I especially super dig the Puzzle Mode in this game because it contains all of the above. I start off finding what I can find but I need to go to definition clues to finish and find all the words eventually - it's still not easy.
Build your personal or Scrabble lexicon in Puzzle Mode!
Regular mode is fun too. I never find all the words but still enjoy it.
In general: No annoyances or distractions. No timers, flashing, spinning, exploding, or crap to wait for. It's a quiet, simple, mild or some thinking and concentration in Puzzle Mode.
Better than the rest! Interesting and playable word games are not easy to find. They're usually too simple - like basic word searches and jumbles with limited lexicon - so less fun, simple but too difficult to finish - so you have to buy clues, confusing, or simply boring.
Thanks for a cool, edifying, challenging but not impossible, puzzle game.
This app is FABULOUS!
I love this simple word game app. And after playing over a year I JUST discovered the puzzle mode that reveals HINTS and DEFINITIONS for EVERY word on the list. Until now I’d only been playing the mode where you simply try to find as many words as possible out of a certain prefabricated list. A simple listing of all the words you found was created and you just tried to do your best. Now instead of wondering what those last unfound 23 (or however many) words on a puzzle had been, I am able to discover each one Wow. Who knew??? I feel silly. But happily in the bonus.
