Great Options, but not perfect
I will fully admit that I was hoping for more variety in the iBooks category, but even thogh there are five templates, they are all EXACTLY the same except for the covers. This was disappointing. Many of the other templates, however, offer some very fresh and visually appealing fonts and designs, which is exactly what I was (secondarily) looking for. The app has performed well when selecting and opening templates, as well as installing a chosen template into My Templates in Pages.
Very useful and attractive collection of templates
They look good, things I’ve made with them have gotten great reviews. They’re sometimes not implemented in quite the best way possible (for example, I would rather they made more use of defined styles, so I could easily re-apply styles as I edit) but that’s really not a very great problem.
Works Very Well
They’re templates what could go wrong. It’s very easy to use, and once you pick your template you open it in Pages by clicking a button on the bottom. It is a stand alone template guide that opens Pages, and not the other way around. I was able to substitute anything very easily by drag and drop. For the price you can’t go wrong.
Updated Review: Much better than I originally thought
I originally gave this app a poor review, based on the fact that some of the templates came across as a little basic. And I do wish that the Newsletter section had a little more variety and depth. But as I looked through the rest of the templates available, I discovered that some of the designs are downright impressive—the magazine templates, once I figured out how to add and delete sections, are very, very nice. I then realized that I had given an unwarranted poor review to a developer who is offering a large number of templates at a reasonable price—something that Microsoft’s own Pages program no longer includes ever since the “upgrade” (LOL) away from the ’09 iWork version—and I felt bad about rushing to judgment. Hey, I’m man enough to admit my mistake: this app is pretty useful after all, the templates have a wide enough selection that you’ll be able to find something that will suit your purposes, and it appears that the developer continues to add more templates to a package we’ve already paid for. I would definitely purchase again, and I will now look into this developer’s other template packages available through the App Store. Thanks!
About bloody time
Microsoft has finally updated pages so that it is useful in the academic realm. For all of their efforts over the years with getting Microsoft computers into grade schools, they do little service for those students if they abandon them in college. For my Batchelors degree and in Grad school, the need for more robust tools such as APA templates and Endnote support has been sadly lacking until this finally surfaced. It appears to be functional so I given it 4 stars out of the gate and will adjust as needed. This shows great, if long overdue, promise.
