  • What does Visual XML do? Visual XML is a simple and very easy to use XML visulization tool for XML API server/client developers. Using the Visual XML utility one can access remote or local address to XML server and refresh its result with a click. Or just paste raw XML document. You also can test POST method using simple http query expressions. Good luck for Developers.

      Awkward, with some problems

You can't open files with a .xml extension using the "File->Open" menu option. I don't have a clue what extension it's looking for, but .xml would seem an obvious one for an XML editor. You have to either type the name in the address bar or drag and drop the file from the finder. It formats the XML in a downright strange way. It inserts newlines before and after the content of elements, obscuring whether there really are newlines or not. And it makes it hard to read. The "File->Open Recent" menu option is always empty, and does not list the files I've opened recently. The app isn't very fancy, and I could probably hack out one better than this in a day of work. I would expect more from a paid app.

Never was able to open an xml file. I tested with my iTunes library file and the app reported that the file was corrupted. In addition to what Steve 3000 noted, clicking on the support button within the app takes you to a JSON support page. Initial content prompt says "To test raw json string", which is an entirely different format from XML. Feels like the author has confused a couple of his applications? The "Visual XML Support" link on this review page takes you to a developer page, but there is no mention of VisualXML app there. Suspect that this app was not tested very well prior to uploading.

      Doesn't work on local drive

I should have checked the reviews before installing, but this app is currently non-functional (at least if you're working on your local PC). This "Visual XML" app is not able to open XML files on your hard drive. I even tried uploading a file to the public share drive of my NAS and opening it via Samba and AFP, but still no luck - "unsupported URL". What, are we expected to publish all our XML files online? Not happening.

      What does this do?

I should have looked at the reviews first! I have an XML that I want to open/parse. It *seemed* like this should do it. Unfortunately, I cannot use this app to open a .xml file. It looks like it only parses website pages. I did not do a lot of looking into it when I discoverd it does not do what I need it to do.

      Doesn’t open XML files

I downloaded this app so that I could open XML files in XML format. This application does not recognize any XML files on my computer, it’s been a waste of my time.
