What I needed. Good and basic.

I’ve tried a few, some costly, and this is the best next thing to a paper check register as far as simplicity goes. Only wish it had a few more features like choosing the dollar amount format i.e. $$.$$. Dollars and cents auto-formatted so you could just type in figures and numbers and the program would automatically place the decimal point as dollars and cents. Like Excel can do with customizing how one wants to treat number entries. Also in the “check number” column, allow text to be entered, not only numbers. Sometimes under the check number on a paper register I write “xfer” for account transfers, and “DB" or “V” for bank debit card purchases where the check number is N/A. Other than that, I like the program.

    Just the right size.

It is just the right tool for those who want to keep it simple. I switched to Chekcheck after being a Quicken user for 20 years and being kicked out, and so far I am pleased. No unnecesary subscriptions, very reasonable price, and easy to adjust to. Of course, it could have all the bells and whistles in the worls, but if all you need is a tool to keep your bank accounts organized and reconciled, this is the tool for you. Kudos to Kevin! Nice bells to have: - separace colums for withdrawals and deposits. - more prominence to the ending balance.

    Great basic checkbook balancing utility

This is a really convenient, simple to use, digital checkbook. It's made balancing my checkbook so much easier. I didn't give it a 5 star rating for a few reasons: new entries always default to "deposit." Would be nice if it recognized similar entries and set Deposit/Withdrawal accordingly. Search function doesn't work well. Ck # autofill can't be turned off, and generally grabs a number that isn't what I want. No revisions/upgrades in many years.

At first I wasn't so sure, but...

I like this app. The Excel spreadsheet I used didn't upgrade with my new computer, so I tried a few different apps. This one fits me the best. I wish there was a separate column for deposits and for withdrawals, but now that I've used it I like it a lot. It shows both balance and the reconciled amount, which saves me from having to add things up like I did before. Seems to be everything I need.

    I use this contually

Great, wonderful App. Since I found this, I have no need of a physical check register any longer. I balance my bank account nicely with this. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star is because if I need to find an expense history, there is NO WAY to search by description. This truly frustrates me. You can only search by check number (I hardly ever write checks), search by date, amount or type. If Im searching for an expense, I would be searching by the NAME of the business or person where I spent the money. I have to scroll through months if not years of expenses to find something if I can ever find it.
