Very limited and not a good use of money

I have just purchased this app thinking I would search plants based on variables that were mentioned in the description; height, zone, color, water, shade, etc… After searching within the parameters for my area, plants of various colors, heights, blooming, etc come up in every search. I cleared the search and would put in totally different parameters and many of the same plants show up again: i.e., height 5ft+ selected and plants that are 1 ft and less come up, purple color selection gets white and red. Pictures of one plant shows up in more than one species so accuracy is questionable. Many, and I mean many, of the plants have no pictures, so I guess I am at the mercy of other uses to add the correct picture with the plant. I have been searching the data base for over an hour to begin plans for a new garden space, and sadly, I am thinking I need to look for a different app. This truly may have been a waste of time and money. Sad

    Wait. Wait

I was hoping to use this program to create a profile of my own yard and garden, adding photos of my own trees and strubs. I thought this would help me keep track of fertilizer needs and water needs. From what I read, I thought I would be able to add plants and trees on my property, but I don't seem to be able to do that. The Search feature is very limited. One has to already know the exact name of the plant or tree. I can search for "Maple" for instance, but need the exact type of Maple. "Red Maple" or "Summit Maple." I want to look at all Maples. I can scroll but there are too many plants to really do that easily. All in all, I don't know if these are bugs or limitations.

    Coorection of my previous remarks.

It does not crash. In fact it is taking quite a lot of time to launch the first time. Then after everything is going well and smooth. Having moved recently from Minnessota, USA, to Nairobi, Kenya, I would like to be able to add some species founded here and to have access to specialized web links to recognize others that I am not able know to find. Otherwise I have enjoyed all the improvements realized since the first version of the app, which I have now in all versions (destop, iPad and iPhone).

    ***Fixed*** Currently Unusable

Now that the bugs that I experienced are fixed I am very pleased with the app, though I wish there was more detail and photos of some varieties but I am sure this will come with time. I have not seen an app at this price point that can compete with this app. Worthwhile purchase With version 1.2, I attempted to preload the database but I stopped the download at 32 Gig, that's right Gigabytes. Without the database download I found it faster to Google the results rather than waiting for the app to download the data. I have not tried at the 1.3 version but no need to as long as I am connected.
