Screeny Overview
What is Screeny? Screeny is a screen capturing app for Mac OS X Lion (10.7) and higher. It allows users to capture videos or images of their screen at any size, with the option to include a video feed from their built-in or external web-cam. Users can also capture a specific portion of their screen, reducing video file size and bringing focus to a specific area. Screeny supports Cloud App, allowing users to automatically upload images and videos to their account, and offers customizable keyboard shortcuts for all recording actions and other preferences. The app is a Menu Bar app and offers multiple video frame rates, the option to capture audio from the computer's microphone, and the option to capture system audio with a 3rd party plugin.
1. Screeny makes screen capturing easy and gives you the freedom to capture your videos or images at any size.
2. • Set your recording canvas size by entering a specific pixel dimension or by choosing some handy pre-set dimensions or by clicking, dragging & expanding the recording canvas.
3. - Capture any portion of your screen by dragging, expanding and moving the capture canvas to any size.
4. You can click & drag to resize the capture area or input the exact pixel dimensions to set to the size of the capture area.
5. Now you can capture a specific portion of your screen, rather than having to record your entire desktop.
6. This can drastically reduce video file size and bring focus to a specific portion of your screen.
7. • Optionally capture Audio from your computer's microphone when recording video.
8. - Optionally have a mouse highlight animation triggered whenever you click your mouse while recording your screen.
9. - Include a video feed from your built-in or external web-cam inside your screen capture.
10. - Optionally compress videos in the highest quality H.264 before uploading to Cloud App to save on file size.
11. All the while you will get instant feedback on the capture area's current pixel dimensions.

I love this app, but would like to make a suggestion, please…..
I downloaded Screeny yesterday and it appears to meet all my needs. However, I would like it to disappear when I don’t need it. Either it does and I don’t know how to do it yet or maybe other perople agree the developers should add this feature to it? Yes, I do understand the icon is up top, but the entire app sits there taking up screen real estate while I don’t need it. If I quit out of it and not have a need to use it for a while I will probably forget what it’s called and not use it and I really want to as it does a good job. Maybe I should make an alias of the app and put it into my dock so I won’t forget I have that app? Otherwise great job! Thanks for making it available!
GREAT app, good work!
This app is great for recording reguler videos of your screen! This app also works for gammers! I was able to record my screen for a game play video! The only thing I would like the maker of this app is to add coustable colors for the border of the cam screen/box I want to record my screen with face cam, and I don’t want the border for the face cam box to be purple and pink, becuase I am a boy/man, so those arn’t my choice of colors, so I’t would be Great if you could add more colors for the face cam box.
Please read this developers
So, I have been looking for a app that wouldn't let me record my face up in the corner just like a face cam without being covered by the windows that I had open. When I found screening I thought that all my problems were solved, except that it crashes all the time! I really would love if the developers would fix this because it really hinders the quality of the app. If it didn't crash so much it would be so perfect for gaming and things like that
“Shouldn’t be hard to get right.” Apparently, it really isn't.
After nothing but terrible results with Quicktime, (stuttering galore, performance, no controls), I came across this free gem. Haven’t had any issues and finally, someone proved that getting a smooth screen recording on modern hardware isn’t impossible. Also of note, 60fps is beatuiful and a much appreciated feature.
