SignalScope Pro Overview

What is SignalScope Pro? SignalScope Pro is a modularized, multi-channel dynamic signal analyzer and data acquisition platform for Mac. It enables precise measurements of acoustic quantities, such as equivalent and time-weighted sound levels, as well as acoustic and electroacoustic systems. The app is designed to work with any Mac-compatible audio hardware and supports multiple channels of 8, 16, 24, or 32-bit data with sample rates as high as the hardware will support. It includes built-in tools such as FFT Analyzer, Meter Bridge, Octave Analyzer (RTA), Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, Sound Level Meter, Spectrogram, and X/Y Plotter. SignalScope Pro is a project-based application that allows for the creation of up to two tools of each type and offers advanced capabilities for configuring input and output device parameters and assigning labels, units, and transducer sensitivities to individual input and output channels. The app also features hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics, Quartz-based graphics, advanced control over input and output devices, whole device and individual channel sensitivity calibration, support for units, saving complete configurations and data in project files, exporting data to ascii text or MAT-files, and AppleScript support for measurement automation and remote control.

SignalScope Pro Features and Description

1. SignalScope Pro also offers advanced capabilities for configuring input and output device parameters and assigning labels, units, and transducer sensitivities to individual input and output channels.

2. It brings powerful tools to the Macintosh platform for multi-channel, audio-band data acquisition and real-time analysis of electrical, acoustical, and electroacoustic signals and systems.

3. SignalScope Pro 3 builds on SignalScope's tradition of award-winning design and precision measurement capabilities by building on advanced technology developed for Faber Acoustical's flagship product, Electroacoustics Toolbox.

4. SignalScope Pro is a modularized, multi-channel dynamic signal analyzer and data acquisition platform for Windows.

5. The software is designed to work with any Windows-compatible audio hardware and supports multiple channels of 8, 16, 24, or 32-bit data with sample rates as high as the hardware will support.

6. Projects may contain one or more tools available in the toolbox, along with any captured data associated with those tools.

7. The oscilloscope and FFT analyzers may each simultaneously analyze multiple input channels of a single device.

8. It enables precise measurements of acoustic quantities, such as equivalent and time-weighted sound levels, as well as acoustic and electroacoustic systems.

9. SignalScope Pro is a project-based application, which allows you to configure and save project files.

10. SignalScope Pro allows for the creation of up to two tools of a each type.

11. For example, a project may contain an oscilloscope, two FFT analyzers, and two signal generators.

Great alternative to AP for general audio T&M

I've been working in the electronics industry, specifically audio and professional audio for 25 years. While I have used Audio Precision (typically at my day jobs), this App has become an excellent validation tool for my home studio and home business when dealing with characterizing audio signals and content. I am very please with its performance and features. I am using an Apogee Duet for reference. I recommend using high quality audio interfaces if you plan to purchase and use this App. You can run a loop back test to see your baseline system performance, which is very handy. I also like the abliity to run multiple windows at the same time. Overall, this App is wonderful and provides the next generation of audio test and measurement tools without breaking the bank. Good job, Faber Acoustical!

May not be “Case Sensitive APFS” Safe

After purchasing it, it claimed that it was not purchased on this computer, and asked me to input the Microsoft ID, and password. Which I did, and it kept on asking over and over. Finally gave up and chatted support.

Very powerful software for the price — but hard to learn.

I initially wanted to give this software five stars for its impressive versatility. Given that MacBooks are not supercomputers, nor do they come with specialized audio gear, this software does provide a fairly competent oscilloscope with Fourier transform and related features, and more impressively, it comes with a good signal/function generator with a LOT of bells and whistles. But you may have to kill a number of hours digging up the locations of all those little tweaks and options, because they are scattered to all corners of the interface. When you find them, it’s like finding an oasis. As a quick example: the function generator, I was playing around/restarting my computer etc just trying to hear the custom signal. I could already see that the programmers had put a LOT of bells and whistles into this particular component, but I couldn’t hear anything — then it turns out there is a tiny little “on” flag, in addition to the “play” button, that *BOTH* need to be pressed in order to hear the signal. So, for things like that (and the minor issues described below), I think four stars is a fair rating. I really wanted to give five stars, because this is versatile software at a fair price, but it’s REALLY hard to learn it. If I may offer some more pointers or advice for new users. I found it easier to walk before running. I started with the two channel SoundFlower, and if I can work out enough wrinkles, I’ll move to 64 channels if it makes sense to do so. When I made mistakes in the processing windows, I couldn’t always find an “undo” option, and frequently I would need to close and restart the window. Once this did cause the program to crash, so you probably want to save your work accordingly. Also, you’ll want to add a multi-output device to your Audio MIDI setup so you can hear what’s being processed. I realize many of you already know these things, but I wanted to spell them out, because I’m seeing one unreasonably low review score with about 17 upvotes, and I just want to make sure people understand some basics that aren’t necessarily spelled out within the program itself. Because that was NOT a fair review for this app, despite the 17 upvotes. It was also a previous version FWIW. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the app itself and the purchase price. Great versatility under the circumstances, but not always user-friendly.

    Dr.

This program has wasted at least 2 hours of my time. I have lost almost all data with the exception of the fft analyzer data, I'm afraid to use it again until the issue is resolved. However, SignalScope Pro Support has been slow in response to my problem. Don't waste your money or time on this program.
