Software Reviews and Criticism

    Seems to Work

I have an old Brother MFC. I updated the system software and the scanner would no longer work with the software from Brother. Since I had a ton of ink left, I did not want to dump the thing right now for a new PC. This drive made the scanner work.

    Scans ok...

Not really much out there that I could find for apps to use our old printer/scanner on a new computer. This one at least will allow us to use the scanner, but crashed fairly quickly unprovoked. Also has "combine PDFs" listed on the window that just takes you to the App store for a different app. That said, it scans from a physical scanner and allows you to save as a PDF (once you pay the 8.99).

    Scanner

Considering that it is a one time payment in a lifetime it is worth it especially if there is no other way to get the computure to connect to printer. For school stuff ill be fore sure needing it.

Just basic scan with no control

This just links to Windows Image Capture, but without all the controls and features for photo, slide, size, color correction, etc. Don't waste your money. Just go to Utilities and open Image Capture and have all the features of Apples included scan program. Even Image Capture is a poor second to the scanner manufaturers OEM program.

How do you pay for this silly thing???

I thought I bought this but apparently it downloads for free and only works once. It only works once with my wife’s ancient scanner but works very well. The Scanner is a Canon and still good. Just unsupported. The app seems to be the solution. So nothing against the app except you have to do a force quit between pages and start over. Fine, I suppose, if you are doing only a couple. My wife does a cajillion of these things so not good. I sent a message to the app’s support page. A human has not gotten back to me yet. I just want to pay for the silly thing so it will work and make my beloved all agiggle. If anyone knows how to make this happen here at the App Store, feel free to tell me. Anyway, 5 stars for the app, 1 star for the app company. I guess that’s a 3?
