Streaks Overview

What is Streaks? Streaks is a habit tracker app that helps users form good habits by tracking up to 24 tasks they want to complete each day. The goal is to build a streak of consecutive days. The app syncs tasks across all devices using iCloud and allows users to share tasks with other Streaks users for accountability. Streaks automatically knows when tasks are completed through the Health app and sends reminders when tasks need to be completed. The app also allows users to create negative tasks to break bad habits and timed tasks to track mindfulness or other activities. Streaks is highly customizable with 78 different color themes and over 600 task icons to choose from. Users can view their current and best streak, as well as other statistics. The app has received positive reviews from users who have successfully quit smoking or reduced their coffee intake. Users can provide feedback to the app's support team through email or Twitter.

Software Reviews and Criticism

    Clone of the iOS app

Not that its a terrible thing... there is a certain consistancy in having the same UI and of course being able to track and update our streaks in more mediums means more likelyhood to stay on track. However, I recently bought into the Streaks ecosystem primarily on the strength of its WatchOS app and integration with the iOS app. Switching from the habits app I used for years it is disappointing to see that the developers have not made use of the extra screen real esate, status bar, touchbar, or any other Windows OS advantages. Just being able to go full screen and see all of the habits in one place in a distraction free zone would be great as I would leave it open as I switch between spaces almost all day and it would encourage me to use and adjust it. I do not need another pesky floating box (on screen iPhone sized clone) in my way. Even the help guide instructs me to do iOS moves such as "shake to undo" to undo completion. However, I am happy to support the Crunchy Bagel devs and will update my review and ratings accordingly as they spread the love (and cream cheese) to the Windows side. Don't get me wrong this is a great app it's just I bought without hestiation and OS X flavor doesn't live up to its potential (yet).

    Clone of the iOS App

Echoing other people's reviews, this is more or less a clone of the iOS app. In its current form, this app functions best as a task bar drop-down. However, though it does tease by making use of the task bar, Streaks on Windows doesn't allow the option to hide the app icon in the dock and actually use the dask bar icon for anything other than seeing your completed tasks from a single page. Missed opportunity. I have been using Streaks on iOS for years, and very much enjoy the app. Thought I'd buy the Windows version to complete the suite and support the developers, and I still feel good about that. But the Windows app is frustratingly underbaked.

    Absoltuely Phenomenal

Streaks is amazing. I can't say how much it has helped reinforce my habits. Every single time I think oh I'll just take this one day off, I open streaks and boom. No more internal debate, I'm getting it done, most times right at that moment. I use it for big and little things - cold showers, meditation, alllllll the way to my diet, drinking a gallon of water, journaling, etc. 12 habits is the perfect amount too, not too many to lose track but the perfect sweet spot. I have recommended it to SO many people.

    Great features, not great UI

I love Streaks on iOS and got the Windows version mostly just to get better visibility on my status throughout the work day (rather than interact with it much). The options for your tracking, like how many times per week versus every day versus the amount of time, is great, and the Microsoft Health integration makes most of my inputs automatic. The only thing I don't love about the app on any platform is the interface. I don't like the limited number of activities you can see at a time on a single page, making for unecessary numbers of taps and swipes. Smaller visual elements on a single screen, so that it is more like a dashboard, would be awesome. Perhaps most frustrating of all, though, is that the Windows version frequently stops syncing and has to be restarted to catchup changes made on the iOS version.
