not as good as hoped
i installed Shoptagr on two computers and signed into both with the same account, but Shoptagr sends two separate promotional emails all the time for other shopping site deals. you'd think you would only get one email for such as you're logged in with one account to both computers' browsers. it also failed to notify me of any price change for several products i've been having it watch. i discovered a week later that there were lowered prices after visiting the merchant site myself. again, i set it to alert me and it didn't do it. also, when i clicked on Shoptagr in the browser while viewing the sale item, it suggested for me to add it to my list again vs telling me it had a price change. So again, another fail. in concept, Shoptagr is a great ideal. in action, it didn't do what i thought it would do and feels like the app is still in its infancy.
pretty helpful but some bugs
overall i love having a place to keep track of everything and their prices. however when you delete an item, it opens a new browser without the item on your list instead of just removing it. it also bugs out sometimes when you try to add a link directly, and i've had to refresh and re-add an item three times before it worked once. but regardless, i think its a good idea that so far is executed well, aside from some glitches
Annoying pop ups ruin an otherwise great app
I love lots of things about Karma, especially the notifications when things you've saved drop in price or are low in stock/back in stock. But the pop ups are so intrusive. I've followed the instructions to disable them in Safari's preferences, but it doesn't fix the problem. You still get huge pop ups from things like their KarmaGives program that keep coming back no matter how many times you close it. This app needs much more granular preferences so users can choose to hide the Karma button if they want and turn off or snooze notifications. Apps like Honey offer those capabilities so there is no reason Karma can't as well. Until then, I'm disabling the extension.
Helpful, but some bugs
Pro: The app is helpful for getting notified when prices have dropped for items you want. Cons: - It's really annoying to have an obtrusive pop-up on some of the sites and to have a new window pop up when you X out the pop up. This becomes especially tiresome to deal with when you're shopping for multiple items and going back and forth between the shopping cart and other parts of the website, although it's annoying regardless. - sometimes I notice that an item I have saved in Karma has dropped in price several hours (even days in one case) before I'm notified of it through the app. This has happened several times, not just once or twice.
A Diamond Sitting Unseen in the Topsoil
An extremely convenient extension/app. We often see this phrase passed around but this is truly just that - a ubiquitiously convenient app that isn't uneccessarily bothersome or complex. If you're a REAL shopper, when something really strikes your fancy, the picture of it stays in your mind. You toss and turn in your sleep thinking about that Margiela boot, that Marni sweater. Shoptagr helps you stay on top of deals you'd easily miss, and even puts in coupon codes automatically at chekout. It's not intrusive or complicated - but it'll be complicated to stop yourself from shooping after you add it to your browser.
