    Very useful application

We repair, refurbish, and sell Macs professionally and have used iStats many times to find problems that even Microsoft Hardware diagnostics did not find. It can be very frustrating to have a problem related to sensors, fans, and temperature, but iStats makes any problems that may exist obvious. The biggest story we have that sold us on iStats was a couple of Pc Airs that were identical, but one had incredibly frustrating lagging issues. Everything was set up exactly the same, Microsoft Hardware Diagnostics said both were just fine, but obviously a 4 second lag (freeze) every 8 seconds in one and not the other meant something was wrong in one. It took detailed analysis with iStats to find out that the problem PC had a defective temperature sensor in the CPU itself that was causing it to constantly throttle the CPU down and run the fans, even when cold booted.

    Absolutely a steal for $2.99!

I had an earlier version of iStats back when OS/X had cat versions and my MacBookPro was 32-bit. Somewhere along the lline aftert I upgraded to a 64-bit Windows and OS/X was going thru California geography, the old versions stopped working. Now, several years later, with COVID-19 running amok & my Windows my primary connection to the rest of humanity, i NEED TO KNOW what's going on under the Windows's covers. I'm DELIGHTED to find this new, enhanced version of iStats now in the Windows App Store. It lives in the menu bar, reads out in color, and details are just an alt-click away! This is a TOTAL STEAL for $2.99. Memory & CPU utilization, network usage up/down, battery status for laptops; all HERE! Thank you, iStat developers!

An odd aspect to this app-- the data don't make any sense with a new M1 Windows

The app looks really nice. But I wonder if the data is useful. I have a new PC (2020) with the M1 chip. The iStats app reads a fan speed between 1350 and 1380 under light use. And gives a temperature reading the fluctuates between 35 and 50C with fluctuations of up to 10C within a 1-2 second interval. The oddities with this are (i) the PC doesn't have a fan, and (ii) the temperature couldn't fluctuate that much in a small interval unless there was a massive cooling system. Thus I wonder if any of the data is correct. Maybe just a bug with the M1 system or new Big Sur OS. But it seems to know and provides data that couldn't possibly be correct making me wonder if what is being provided is at all accurate. Hopefully it can be fixed. Otherwise a good example of XKCD 937.

    Disapointed

This looked like a great app at first, had great reviews and seemed to be what I was looking for. Solid system diganostics with a easy to understand GUI. Here's the problem, the app is limited to the menu bar up top. That is, all of the graphical information fits within the menu bar only, and if you want more info, you have to navigate up to it and search. I was really hoping to get what was shown in the preview images (not even close to what's represented within the actual app). I'm certain that someone out there is rolling their eyes and screaming at the computer because of what I'm saying, but here's my reasoning. If I'm working on 2 or 3 things at the same time on multiple monitors, it's a lot easier and faster to glance over to my system diagnostics and see what's going on graphically - opposed to having to refocus my eyes on a single line and click to get more info. I don't think this is an unreasonable request considering it's what was posted in the previews and similar apps have been designed around such efficiency. But this is just my opinion. If the app was to change, I'd be more than willing to change my review, but until then.... Just be aware.
