Transmit 5 Overview

What is Transmit 5? Transmit 5 is a macOS file transfer app that allows users to upload, download, and manage files on various servers with an easy-to-use interface. It connects to 11 new cloud services, including Backblaze B2, Box, Google Drive, DreamObjects, Dropbox, Microsoft Azure, and Rackspace Cloud Files, as well as classic services like FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, and S3. Transmit 5 includes Panic Sync, a secure and fast way to sync sites, and a robust File Sync feature that supports local-to-local and remote-to-remote sync. The app has been rebuilt to boost speed, with a new activity view and features like Get Info Sidebar, Batch Rename, Places Bar, Keys, Tags, Local-local sync, 2-Factor Login, Open in Terminal, and Extra Large Amazon S3 File Support. Transmit requires a subscription to use, with a 7-day free trial and an annual fee of $24.99 (or equivalent). An active subscription entitles users to unlimited app updates.     OK, but no longer sync via iCloud

    I have used Transmit for years, and never had an issue with it. Unfortunately, Transmit now uses their own server to sync instead of iCloud which worked great in the past and I never had issues with it. I have great aversion to apps that use proprietary servers to sync instead of iCloud, and I only use them when there is no alternative. I hope the developers follow the example of other great apps (Like DevonThink, for example) who gives the user options which include iCloud sync.

    Simple and Powerful FTP

    When you publish as many 3D virtual tours as VPiX 360 does -- we need fast and simple FTP/SFTP access to hundreds of client servers. Transmit has been our favorite FTP application for years. It's simple, intuitive and reliable. We love it.

    Makes using FTP Make Sense

    I'm a very visual person, and Transmit makes using FTP much more intuitive for me. Easy to figure out, keeps things organized, and functions well.

    Giant Footprint on Screen

    POSITIVES: FTP is fast and easy, can use drag and drop from folders on my computer and not have to mess with all the security issues with the server side of the app, since I'm already logged into my computer securely. It took only minutes to install and start FTP-ing. NEGATIVE: It has a giant screen footprint, and I can't find any way to make it smaller. There's no way to make the huge server side of the window go away, even though I don't use it. So annoying! When I'm building webpages, have several programs open, every millimeter of screen space matters. A small footprint is a MUST!
