Pomy Lite 2 Overview

What is Pomy Lite 2? Pomy is a desktop widget-style app that helps reduce eye strain by reminding users to take breaks while working on-screen. It is inspired by the 20-20-20 rule recommended by optometrists. The app has a simple and minimalistic design, with a frameless design that blends in with the desktop workspace. The timer is already set to the optimal 20-20-20 rule, and the app reminds users to take a break and notifies them when 5 minutes are left. Pomy also has features such as computer sleep and resume recognition, always-on-top feature, color themes, custom HEX colors, and keyboard shortcuts. Additionally, Pomy counts how many times users have successfully focused, like a score.

Good concept but a few issues

I like the design and idea of this, that's why I originally chose it over the other apps that do the same thing. However after using it for a couple weeks I've found a few annoying issues. The smallest is that when you have the setting on to be notified when the timer isn't running, this notification only has two options: to start the timer or remind you again in a few minutes. So if you're using your computer for music for example, it'll keep showing an alert every few minutes because there's no option to snooze for longer or to just ignore unless you quit out of the app or change the setting. A bit more annoying, the actual window always pops up above everything else when the timer starts so you need to keep clicking to hide it. Also, when your Windows goes to sleep, the timer resets. Even if it's for half a second. Small problems but together it kind of makes using this pointless becaues it's supposed to be a simple app

    Great Start

Love the start, but for this to come up to 5 stars, we need a few simple things. - ability to hide timer (the menu bar app is more than enough) - ability to have it run on start

    Simply awesome

This app has the exact functionaality that I want. It blocks your screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds to reduce stress on my eyes. Just one issue, the grey screen is not covering the monitors, but other than that, it's a simple and perfect app. Love it.

Nice reminder to rest your eyes, but it’s an energy hog

Pomy has a higher average energy impact than anything else on my 2017 MBP: 8.61 vs Google Chrome 8.03 and Safari 4.44. I haven’t investigated whether something nefarious is going on yet, but it could just be a bad timer implementation.
