Terrific functionality with a lot of potential

This app works really well, and does exactly what it is supposed to. It links a written or typed word (or drawn image, for that matter) with the exact words that were spoken at the moment of writing. Each section of the written notes can later be clicked, and the corresponding audio will play back in order to provide extra details about the written material (or to reinforce that info). A physician recommended that I boost my recall by purchasing a LiveScribe Echo pen so that I could get visual and auditory review at the same time. Those pens cost around $100, however! I figured that there HAD to be an app that did something similar, and AudioNote is the answer! This app saved me at least $95! There are some flaws with Audionote, which I think will probably be improved over time. The interface isn’t all that pretty, and the notes aren’t very customizable (there are no options to change font or size of type, for example). However, these issues are quite small considering how well the app performs its intended purpose, and I figure that the designers will eventually clean some things up. Great work on this app overall. I love it!

    Great for Songwriting/Lyrics

Really good! I like using it to write my songs and it’s very nice and easy to use with some extra tools to help me as well! Although, I do not recommend it if you are going to write heavy notes or “real notes."

Try the LITE before paying for this!

For being note taking application, the outlining function is AWFUL! I hope you get more than just more than 5 minutes of recording time on the full, paid version of this app. I've been using Word for Windows's Notebook function to fill this note taking role for a couple of semesters now. I've had an awful time with it the past semester with saving multiple lectures in the same document under a different tab--not the case before a more recent update. That has worked pretty well, but my biggest complaint is you don't have the full power of Word and it's pretty darn difficult with math related notes. Still haven't found software that offers a full suite of note taking functions for a wide variety of situations. AudioNote LITE is VERY basic and offers a lot of nice drawing functions, but it doesn't seem to offer me more than what I have with Word for Windows's Notebook. If you don't have Office for Windows or don't want to drop the Money, it's better than nothing, but currently it's pretty lackluster. I may get it for iPad, which may make it more functional for me.

Great for note taking with a boss that speaks quickly with high demands if you can't keep up

This is also great if you have a boss with high demands who is making a list of things to be done with multiple dealines. You can keep up with writing the notes. This is great because even though this ap doesn't type for you, you can always play it back later on to ensure you have the complete list of what your boss asked for. Or… if you have a meeting with indecisve people like a spouse/ friend / boss who always says one thing but later says I didn't say that… you can always play it back to make sure you heard right. Just becareful and make sure you have permission to record so that later you don't face ramifications for recording with out permission!! This ap is my new best friend., best of all is free, I really did wish it could type as it recorded. That would have been rated 5 stars, but since its free, can't complain. There are other apps that cost much to perform the very same functions. I hope this review helps. :-)

    Concept great, execution flawed

The app still has serious issues handling text since they’ve added font support. From a usability standpoint, the most grevious issue is that anytime you hit the delete key, using lined notes, the top of the “piece of paper” as well as content near that area is scrolled out of view. It jumps back into position when you hit the return key. It is very jarring and noticeable. From a polish standpoint, the default text color for the lined and other notes is not a good match and you end up with competing splashes of color on the screen with the text being monocolored and ultra dark and the lines being a realistic, but too colorful, representation of a sheet of five-star notebook paper. This can easily be mitigated by adjusting the colors and their intensity.
